Ashley's latest attempt to buy a Struggling High Street Brand (TM) is an offer from his Sports Direct office of £51.9m to acquire the entirety of Game Digital, with Ashley's empire pitching this as a massive favour to Game.

Sports Direct said it doesn't believe Game is "able to weather the pressures that it is facing" as a standalone business in today's desolate high street, hence the kind offer to have it and save it.

The plan is to eventually introduce Game concessions into Ashley's other businesses, which at time of writing include House of Fraser, Evans Cycles and Flannels, plus a chunk of French Connection.
