Maersk revamps “Captain Peter” with advanced and chargeable features

December 19, 2019: Maersk, the world’s largest shipping company, released its revamped remote container management (RCM) application ‘Captain Peter’ with more advanced and chargeable features.

The reefer visibility tool that can be accessed through a desktop, tab or a smartphone helps customers to track temperature, humidity and CO2 levels inside the container in real-time throughout the transit.

3,600 companies have been using the RCM and the information from 380,000 refrigerated containers of the combined fleet of Maersk and Hamburg Süd has been communicated since its launch in September 2017.

“Over the last two years, our RCM product has proven good value to our reefer customers, but we have also identified key areas of improving such a cargo visibility tool.

With Captain Peter, we are significantly elevating the customer experience of working with the data and building the foundation for delivering even more advanced features around it,” said Ken West, reefer digital development manager, Maersk.

With Captain Peter, we are significantly upgrading the customer experience of working with the RCM data, and building the foundation for delivering even more advanced (and chargeable) features around the RCM data.”
