How to arrange a comfortable family garden?

We often forget that the garden is to be used primarily for the rest of the household, it is to be an extension and supplement of the apartment. There should be a lot of free space, sunshine and a place for a quiet corner where you can put wooden garden furniture.

Small children in the garden

When children are young, it is worthwhile to find a place for sandpits, garden swings or equivalent, as well as a swimming pool or paddling pool. A big attraction are all kinds of huts, tents or wooden playgrounds. In such a family garden the most space should be devoted to the lawn. Decorative plants should be placed on the sides of the lawn, right next to the garden fence. Mothers who are busy with small children are certainly not able to spend a lot of time on the garden. So let's choose plants that with little effort, will grow well and healthily and look impressive.

For busy mums, I recommend all kinds of lilacs, perennial irises, whose clumps adorn the garden long after their beautiful flowers and ornamental shrubs bloom. When choosing shrubs, make sure they look impressive all year round. Many of them bloom profusely from early spring to summer, and in autumn they discolour the leaves beautifully and cover themselves with berries. For children's sake, don't choose spiky shrubs, and ask in garden centres if the berries are not poisonous. If we have children, don't clutter the garden by arranging elaborate beds, which our children can destroy.

It's in the garden, children should find a place for free activity and movement, not bound by the constant call "don't break" and "don't trample". It is better to place wooden flowerbeds and garden pots in the resting corner and orchard your favourite seasonal flowers in them. They are an ornamental element which enlivens the garden, attracts the eye and at the same time is easy to maintain. With gardening ambitions, let's wait until the children grow up a little.

When children grow up

The garden is an artistic space that we can develop and transform as our needs and tastes change. When children grow up, sandboxes can be transformed into a pond and garden swings can be transformed into pergolas. Children's houses will not cease to be attractive for a long time, especially if they are situated on a tree or in a secluded secret corner of the garden. For slightly older children, it may be necessary to have their own bed, on which they can cultivate their own easy to grow plants.

Allow these nature experiments to meet your child's cognitive needs. All you have to do is let the children occupy a few crates or garden pots. For such simple cultivation I recommend cress, chives or radishes and beans or peas. It is important that older children can enjoy their stay in the garden. It can be fun for them to look for delicacies such as strawberries, strawberries or currants or raspberries. If we manage the garden space properly and organize safe fun for the children, we will finally be able to take full advantage of the garden furniture and spend some time reading.
