What is On-page SEO?

On-page seo is about optimizing all the online factors of your website or webpage in order to improve the performance of your website in search engine results.

On-page optimization is considered the most important part of Search Engine Optimization. Some of the key parts of on-page optimization are URLs, Title, Meta Description, Content, keyword density, Sitemap, etc.

Why on-page optimization is important?

On-page optimization matters because it is one of the main factors of SEO that helps increase the ranking and visibility of a website or webpage.

The overall on-site features help you rank higher and you need to optimize them the right way in order to get instant results.

This is why you can not ignore the importance of on-page optimization.

7 key aspects of On-page optimization

1. Optimize Your Content

Quality Content

The quality of your content on your webpage is the most important thing that determines the traffic you get and leads.

Your content should give the user what they are looking for. Make it unique and super valuable. Write something new that nobody else has covered or wrote yet.

Keyword Density

Keyword density is how many times your targeted keyword appears in your content. The first thing to do is to target your keyword under the first 100 words of your content.

In 1000 words long content, you should use your targeted keyword about 6 to 7 times.

2. Optimize URLs, Title Tags, and Meta Description

URLs, Title tag, and Meta, all are a very important part of on-page optimization. They can affect your rankings if done the right way or vice versa. How to optimize them the right way, check this out-

URLs

Whenever you optimize your URLs, just keep in mind the two most important things. First, keep your URLs as short as possible and always add a keyword in all of your URLs.

Title Tags

Title tags are the most important part of your page. Any user sees the title first and the first impression is always good.

The title should define your content’s main idea. It should be attractive and eye-catching at the same time.

You should keep the length of your title around 65 characters. And also add your targeted keyword in your title tag. The closer you keep your keyword at the beginning of your title the more better it is considered.

You should use numbers or current year in your title. You can use some words like ‘fast’, ‘get’, ‘easy’ etc. in your title to increase CTR.

Meta Description

Your meta is what can boost CTR and traffic to your site in no time. All you need to do is write one that works as a short summary of your content.

The length of your meta should be about 155 to 160 characters. You should always add your targeted keyword in your meta description.

3. Optimize for user experience

Dwell time

Dwell time is how long a user stays on your website or webpage. Dwell time is important because it tells about the quality of your content and how relevant it was to users.

Google checks dwell time to determine the quality of your website. The lower the dwell time the higher the bounce rate.

Bounce Rate

A higher bounce rate is not good for any website and it affects overall performance and ranking of your site. How one can keep bounce rate low is by doing these things-

  1. Give users what they are looking for right away. For example, if someone is looking for a summary of some novel. Then he/she should get that summary right away on your main page. If they see big ads that cover whole screens or multiple pop-ups then it will drive them away.
  2. You should get rid of all the unnecessary pop-ups and all the irrelevant stuff like that immediately.
  3. Improve the page loading speed of your site right now.

4. Use Schema Markups

Schema helps users and google to understand about your webpage and content better. You can use a schema in order to increase click-through rates. If you don’t have schema then you can one by using a structured data markup tool. Schema markup like rating stars, rich snippets, and FAQ schema are a very good on-page factor.

FAQ Schema

Frequently Asked Question schema is very good for users. You can set it up for improving user experience.

Review Stars

Review or rating stars you can see in search results just below the title tag. These stars help the user to know the overall performance of a site.

5. Page speed

Page speed is the time your webpage takes to load. It is a ranking factor as google algorithm takes it into account while ranking pages. That is why you must know to keep your page speed right.

Compress images

Using jpeg format for images is always good. Or you can even compress your images without compromising the qualities of your images by using online compressing tools.

Images are one of the main reasons for the slow page loading of your webpage.

Optimize Html,CSS,and javascript code

You can optimize your codes by getting rid of all the unnecessary things like commas and space etc. This makes your coding simple and easy. This helps to improve your page loading speed.

Fewer broken pages

Your site should have minimum pages with a 404 error. You should avoid all these broken pages because they affect the loading speed of a webpage.

Use embedded Videos

You can also use embedded videos on your site in order to increase page loading speed. Embedded videos do not add any extra data to your site.

6. Image Optimization

Use alt tags

Using alt tags in your uploaded images is considered good practice for SEO. This tells google robots what your images are about.

Add a keyword in Alt Tags

Adding your targeted keywords in alt tags of your images is google ranking factor. You should always put in your keywords and their synonyms in alt tags.

7. Building Sitemap

Building and submitting a sitemap to your site is very important. A sitemap is consists of all the URLs of your website. When you submit a sitemap on your site, it helps Google to crawl and index all of your webpages.

You can generate an XML sitemap by going to the site https://www.xml-sitemaps.com/
