How To Differentiate To Gain From Your Choice Of Certification

SAFe is one of the most sought after certification with any of the leading SAFe training in Atlanta for the IT industry. With the advent of the top most IT companies in Qatar, many leading SAFe training in Doha also have started providing this certification in either SCRUM or SAFe. But often new joiners to the certification are seen scratching their heads trying to figure out a distinction between these two certifications.

SCRUM is an iterative way to develop a product that focuses on a regular cadence of delivery. It has a set of processes and specific supporting roles for its cross-functional teams that help drive the deliveries. While SAFe which stands for Scalable Agile Framework is an approach to scale up SCRUM that helps it to be applied to larger enterprises and larger teams who are working on a product that SCRUM recommends.

In a nutshell, while Agile is a way of working or a mindset, SCRUM is a framework that claims it is based on the values and principles derived from Agile. SAFe thus is a scaling framework that implements SCRUM at the enterprise level. The biggest challenge that anyone faces with SCRUM is to scale it.

When multiple teams are required, larger team sizes are to be handled and integration of this is to happen at the enterprise level management functions SCRUM finds itself challenged. SCRUM users also found problems with program management and the overall process of project portfolio management and product management in such scenarios.

To take care of these problems two popular methods emerged, one being the scrum of scrums or the SOS and the other one being SAFe. Both methods are good starting points to help scale up Agile in any organization.

SOS is a natural progression to scale up Agile from SCRUM when several SCRUM teams are working together on a large project. The main ingredient of a scrum of scrums is a stand-up multi-team layer. It is not a full-on status meeting with all members of the various teams but a short meeting of say 15 minutes.

This small group comprises ideally only the technical representatives from each team. These representatives help keep others informed across the organisation about the project. It also helps with knowledge sharing across the teams as well as have a surface level integration of the important issues.

SAFe, on the other hand, is devised for large organisations. It takes a much more structured approach that helps scale up agile than scrum of scrums. SAFe does this scaling up by describing three levels of the organisation, namely portfolio, program, and the team. This structuring sits well with larger organisations who apply a tiered approach for the delivery of work.

Any of the Leading SAFe training in Doha or anywhere else in the world like the leading SAFe training in Atlanta does not specify this. Depending upon your organisation size and structure one should choose the right type of certification. Though having both certifications is not a bad thing if you are looking for a career change.
