Everything You Need to Know About Audio and Video Conferencing.

Audio Conferencing is the method of arranging a conference with simultaneous transmission of audio signals between three or more participants using the communication channels.

Audio conferencing systems are three types: distributed, local and integrated.

Audio conferencing distributed (Remote) connects a number of participants from different locations.

Local audio conferencing brings together several participants in the same room (conference or meeting room).

Integrated audio conferencing attracts participants from remote and local.

What are the key differences between audio and video conferencing?

  1. The methods of information transmission. Users can communicate only in voice mode during the audio conferencing session, while no other communication methods available during the video conference. You can not see or display other users and use other eye contact collaboration tools.
  2. The cost of solutions. Cheaper than video conferencing systems are audio conferencing systems. Severe video conferencing requires much more investment in equipment because, in this case, video transmission would add up, requiring the use of wider communication channels and resources for each individual to capture and view the video image. To be audio-call, it is enough to have a software program to communicate with the users of telecommunication equipment (ordinary mobile, IP phone, call phone) and IP telephony equipment. It is also often used in the digital PBX of the business.

3.Convenience. Video conferencing is thought to be a technology capable of bringing virtual meetings as close as possible to real audiovisual contact. The mutual understanding among participants, in this case, is up to 90%. Audio conference-style communication is similar to telephone communication and hence the level of shared understanding between the participants is considerably lower.

Equipment for Audio Conferencing

If the user wants to equip a room with a remote subsidiary for audio conferencing purposes, attention must be paid to such equipment as conference systems comprising a central control unit and remote conference microphones. This computer is designed specifically to coordinate audio and video debates in large conference rooms. You can also use audio playback echo canceling speakers which can be combined into large areas within a string.

If the user needs to communicate with international partners or customers, additional equipment – simultaneous translation systems – can be used to avoid contact problems. This equipment can be both integrated with a conference system and autonomous. The translation shall be distributed in the first instance by the central unit, and in the second case IrDA should be used.
