How to turn an ugly tub into a beautiful pond?

Your own piece of land, even the smallest piece of greenery, allows you to relax and forget about the hardships of everyday life.

For some time now I have been a happy owner of a small allotment in one of the allotment gardens. As you know, each of the allotment holders aims to make their plot look nice and tidy. In spite of my efforts, there was one element left on the plot, which clearly spat in the eyes and did not allow to consider the plot as pretty. It was an old bath, which the previous owner put under a hand pump. It looked squalid. I wondered for a long time what to do with this fantasy. Finally I came up with an idea that allowed me to transform this piece of land into one of the nicer places. So I wanted to share my idea and tell future ponds how to make a small but charming pond out of an ugly tub.

First of all, we need to dig a hole in the ground of the right size, which they posed to fit our bathtub. It must be slightly larger so that a sufficiently thick layer of hardened ground can be placed at the bottom. This is to stabilise the whole structure so that the bathtub does not sink deeper under its own weight. We can use bricks or hollow bricks for this purpose, which will make the work a little easier. It is worth to dig a slightly deeper hole under the hole in the cork, which will then be filled with gravel to facilitate possible drainage.

It is also worth buying the right amount of black foil, which will lining the inside of the container. The black surface will look much nicer than the white enamel in which bathtubs are usually covered. Then all we have to do is to dig the whole structure with soil and fill it with water. When the water ripens, we will be able to put the first plants into it. We can also use the excavated soil in a very interesting way, namely, from the excess of material, we can put a tasteful rock garden, which can blend in beautifully with the pond itself.

Of course, this solution will not allow us to grow too many fish. We can only limit ourselves to smaller carnivores, but before winter we will have to either fish and keep them at our home or at a friend's aquarium hobbyist. However, even without the fish the pond will look beautiful as soon as we provide the right conditions for the plants. There is nothing more beautiful than a fully bloomed water lily.
