Wrist watch - quartz or mechanical?

Nowadays, most people live at a very fast pace. Expressly escaping time is measuring a watch on our hands. But it is worth wondering which watches are better...quartz or mechanical?

First let's take a quartz watch under the magnifying glass. This clock was invented relatively recently, because in 1927 by Warren Marrison. For the first thirty years it was only used in laboratories because of its very large size and delicate design, which was prone to mechanical damage.

Quartz watches became widely available in the 1960s, when cheap semiconductors of digital circuits developed. Ten years later, quartz watches were sold by sixteen different Swiss companies.

The way a quartz watch works is based on the piezoelectric phenomenon. The vibration of the quartz crystal in an electronic vibration generator produces electrical impulses. These impulses pass through a set of frequency dividers. By reducing the frequency, the result is one pulse per second. The pulses are also used to calculate the hundredth of a second, hour and date. The precisely determined frequency in a quartz watch makes it very accurate. More accurate than a mechanical watch. It is also worth mentioning that the quartz crystal is also used in mobile phones and computers.

Let us now take a look at mechanical watches, which were invented as early as 725 AD.

Liang Lingzan and Yi Xing are considered inventors. Mechanical watches work thanks to a complex mechanism that has been almost unchanged for years. The pendulum and balance are the gaiters of this clock. By means of a catch, the energy is transferred to the regulator's drive. The energy in the mechanical watch is drawn from a tensioned spring, which during the unwinding process gives away the accumulated energy and drives the timepiece components.

A comparison between a quartz watch and a mechanical watch gives clear conclusions. A quartz watch is primarily more accurate than a mechanical watch. Unfortunately, mechanical watches have time measurement deviations of up to a few or more seconds per day. Of course, this is also dependent on the watch manufacturer, because the best brands can boast of high accuracy in mechanical watches.

The same is true for quartz watches, when choosing the right model you should not only look at the price, but also at the quality of the brand. Watches bought only from proven manufacturers will serve us for many years.
