How to Fix Mic Not Working In Windows 10 Xbox Application

The Xbox application for Windows 10 is an all-in-one gaming hub. However, it sometimes does not work great while streaming or playing casual games. One of the significant issues with this application is mic issue. Several users reported that they were unable to get mic to work in the Xbox application. In this article, we will show you how you can fix this issue.

Clear Applications Cache

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Tap the Windows + I button on your keyboard to launch the settings application on your Windows 10 operating system.
  2. Select “Application” in the settings button.
  3. Enable the “Xbox” application and then launch the “Advanced settings.”
  4. Bottom down and then click the “Reset” button.

Check Application’s Permission

To use mic with any application on Windows 10 system, you need application permission.

To do so, first, you need to confirm your system has global permission to access mic. Then you need to allow the Xbox application to use mic in the application settings menu.

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Tap the Windows + I button on your keyboard to launch the settings application on your Windows 10 operating system.
  2. Select “Privacy” in the settings tab.
  3. Click “Microphone” in the left side pane.

Change Default Output Format

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Right-tap on the “Volume logo” that appears on the notification area and launch “Sounds.”
  2. Select the “Recording” button.
  3. Right-tap on the “default recording device” and then click “Properties.”
  4. Select “Advance.”
  5. Select “Studio Quality or DVD” under the default format in the dropdown menu and then save your changes.

Temporarily Turn Off Firewall and Antivirus

One of the possible reasons that Xbox applications cannot access mic may be because of firewall-imposed limitations. Sometimes third-party antivirus programs block some applications from accessing the computer peripherals.

To fix this issue first, you need to disable your third-party antivirus program temporarily.

Install Teredo Adapter

  1. Right-tap on the “Start” button and then launch the “Device Manager.”
  2. Tap on the “View” in the dropdown menu and then select the “Show hidden devices” button.
  3. Enable “Network” adapters and then find “Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface.”
  4. If it is not available there, then tap on action in the dropdown menu and then select “Add legacy hardware.”
  5. Click “next.”
  6. Select “Install the hardware that I manually select from the list (Advanced)” button and then select “Next.”
  7. Select “Network adapters” in the list and then tap on Next.
  8. Click “Microsoft.”
  9. Select “Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter” in the dropdown menu and then install it.

Check Audio Input Driver

Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Right-tap on the “Start” button and then launch the “Device manager.”
  2. Enable “Audio inputs and outputs” option.
  3. Right-tap on each entry and then “uninstall the device.”
  4. Now reboot your computer and remember that “Mic plugged in.”
