Raised Floor System For Server Room

A raised floor refers to a second elevated floor above the actual floor of the room. It differs from the hollow floor in that every part of the room below the access floor remains accessible at all times. This makes it particularly suitable for rooms with frequent changes to the installations and when the installations should be quickly accessible at all times.

In the construction industry, a raised floor is a false system floor construction in the form of an elevated floor structure consisting of industrially manufactured modular elements, mainly slabs, and columns. The raised floor panels are usually made of wood (high-density flat-pressed panels), cement fiber, anhydrite, gypsum (fiber-reinforced gypsum boards), steel or aluminum. These access floor panels rest on double steel or aluminum floor supports. The supports can be connected to each other at their heads by grid bars.

In the cavity thus created, all installations for, for example, communication, electricity, water can be integrated. In addition, especially in clean rooms, the raised floor is often used to convey through countless small holes and thus a very large flow cross-sectional area, the exhaust air from the room, so that a laminar airflow from the ceiling (supply air also over large cross-setions) to the floor in the room established. In this case, the entire cavity is virtually an air duct.

Especially for server rooms or areas where high demands are placed on lateral stability and load absorption, one uses a so-called server room floor (or computer room floor). This system consists of heavy-duty props on which continuous steel C-profiles are bolted in one direction and fittings in the other direction. In the walking area, raised floor panels are laid on this profile grid substructure; in the field of cabinets, however, they are formed with a higher C-profiles frame. Thus, even with the installation of control cabinets remove all plates, and subsequent installations can be easily performed.

In server rooms or data centers, the raised access floor can also be used for active air conditioning in hot or cold aisles. There is an active water-cooled double bottom climate plate - these plates are available with downward or upward air flow.

The performance certificates for these raised floor systems are in accordance with EN 12825 for raised floors. The standard is valid in Germany as DIN standard DIN EN 12825. For flooring systems that comply with the standard and the application
