Top 5 Key features in Android 11 which will Redefine Mobile Applications

Google has announced its first Android 11 developer preview, the next version of its Android operating system. It’s the earliest Google has made such a preview so the changes here aren’t the front-facing, but Google is making some big announcements, such as enhanced 5 G coverage, better privacy features, and new messaging interfaces.

Android 11’s most interesting features

1.Scheduled dark theme

I’m not a fan of that dark Android theme. But this has nothing to do with the platform, or its feature takes on I also often use my Android device in the night. My Kindle remains most of the time in dark mode, so I understand the attraction of the app. Android 11 is now stated to be able to schedule when your device switches to dark mode. You can either configure a custom time or switch between dark and light mode based on sunrise/sunset time in your timezone.

2.Bubbles

Reminiscent of Facebook Chat Heads, the “Bubbles” feature was meant to be part of Android 10 last year. It’s a new UI for messaging apps that lets you easily access multiple conversations anywhere through a floating bubble. At the moment, it seems only Google has its messaging app support, but the idea is that any app — such as WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, or Signal — can take advantage of this feature.

3.Conversations

There’s a new dialogue section of the Notification Shade to go with the bubbles that break out new messages in your area before all your emails, Instagram likes, and app updates. The idea is to make the communication part of your phone more accessible because, well, it’s a phone, and it does what it does — helping you talk to people.

4.Screen recording

To get screen recordings on Android, I had to use a third-party tool like AZ Screen Recorder; With the release of Android 11, that app may no longer be needed.

This screen recording feature briefly appeared in one of the Android 10 builds, but quickly disappeared — there is no way to know if it will disappear as soon as Android 11 rolls out. Hopefully, this time developers will release this feature, so that users can grab a video screengrab of their device to share with others.

5.Motion Sensation Tips

This feature will be on the pixel line of the device, at least initially. The feature allows you to pause/play with motion sense gestures. So while listening to music, you can signal with your device to pause or play an existing tune. This will be a meeting if you need to constantly interrupt your music to communicate with a real person.

Small tweaks and changes:

  • Automatic dark mode toggles
  • A new motion sensor signal to play or pause music for Pixel 4
  • An “Enhanced Sensitivity Sensitivity” setting for Pixel 4, to be used with screen savers
  • The option to pin apps to the top of the share sheet has returned to Android 10 Beta.
  • Turning on airplane mode no longer disconnects Bluetooth Bluetooth audio connections.
  • XDA developers report that there is also a hidden new screenshot UI, but it is not enabled by default (or fully functional).
