Become a Pro at Windows 10 With These Hacks

Knowing every function of your device makes you feel more confident with it. Plus, you will save a lot of time and effort. Unlike Apple, Microsoft does not advertise its hidden features. This makes it all the more difficult for you to get the most out of your PC. In case you don’t know, there are plenty of useful features on your Windows 10 that you aren’t even aware of. You can be quicker and more productive on your machine if you learn about these hidden features. This could especially be appealing during the current days of the coronavirus pandemic when everyone is using their laptops and computers more than ever.

So, here we are with this master guide that is written only for you. In this article, you will learn about major tips and tricks for better use of Windows 10 on your device.

Minimize all windows except the active one

Sometimes, the desktop screen gets extremely messed up with too many open windows. Did you know that you can quickly minimize all of them except the one you are currently working on? Well yes, you can do that. And here is how:
Step 1. Simply, click the title bar of the window you are working on to select it.
Step 2. Now, hold down the mouse and start shaking the window back and forth. After a few quick shakes, all other windows opened on the screen will minimize, and the one you were shaking will be left open.

Open the ‘secret’ Start menu

All of you must be aware of how to get to the Start menu with the help of your keyboard (Press the Windows icon on your keyboard). But, did you know that Windows 10 has another Start menu to directly access important features like the Command Prompt, the Control Panel, and the Task Manager? You can access this lesser-known Start menu in two different ways: either press the Windows key + X or right-click the Windows icon or Start button.
Create an event without opening the Calendar app

Windows 10s latest update allows you to add events to your Microsoft calendar directly from your Taskbar. To do so, follow the steps below:
Step 1. On the right corner of your Taskbar, click the box with the date and time.
Step 2. Select the date on which you want to schedule an event.
Step 3. You can enter the event name, time, and location.
Step 4. Hit save. You will notice the event appear in your Calendar app across your device.

Take a screenshot

Surely, most of the time you forget how to capture a screenshot on your laptop or desktop.
Interestingly, there are at least eight different ways to take a screenshot on Windows 10. The easiest way to screenshot your entire screen is to press the Windows key + Print Screen key.
If you want to capture a particular part of your screen, then press the Windows key + Shift + S. Snip & Sketch tool will open up, allowing you to click, and drag to create a screenshot.

Shut down background apps

Although apps running in the background help your system to stay updated, they end up consuming your battery and data. To manage these apps running in the background to save power and data, navigate to Settings > Privacy > Background apps. You can also stop all the apps from running in the background, by sliding the Let apps run in the background toggle switch to Off. Or, you can go down the list to choose the apps you leave running in the background.

Get rid of ads in your Start menu

While running Windows 10 on default settings, you will notice applications on the right side of your Start menu. These are ads for Windows Store apps you can buy, also called “Suggestions” by Microsoft. If you don’t want to see these ads flashing in your Windows 10 Start menu, navigate to Settings > Personalization > Start. Here, you will see a toggle switch named Show suggestions occasionally in Start, slide it to the off position.

We hope you enjoyed trying out these hacks on your Windows 10 and use it more often to save more of your precious time.
