Protecting Pedestrians Using Scaffolding

As a construction site manager or owner, you are responsible for the safety of everyone around it. By using scaffolding, you will have made an effort to protect them and ensure no incidents will happen. To ensure that not only your workers are safe, but the pedestrians and everyone working around your site is, too, you may consider getting the following scaffolding features.

Sidewalk protection

Sidewalk protection refers to overhead and sideways protective systems that you may erect around a structure under construction. The platform helps to tap any falling debris, materials, tools, or equipment that may fall on people walking around the site. With sidewalk protection, you will also find it easy to keep pedestrians as far away from your project as possible, thereby boosting the site's safety while ensuring everyone is safe.

Pedestrian canopies

A pedestrian canopy is much more like sidewalk protection only that it helps in controlling dust and similar air contaminants. Apart from keeping solid items contained, pedestrian canopies can help you keep anyone around your site safe from dust emanating from the compound. Otherwise, contaminating the air will constitute pollution, and the authorities will never be nice to you if it comes to that.

As construction materials, stone and wood may release harmful dust particles once they are hit with equipment and tools. With a canopy, however, you can keep such particles in a contained area and make sure no one walking by can breathe it in.
In addition, the canopies can help to trap any noise coming from your site. Since there is a lot of pounding, hitting, and cracking, you will not risk getting sued by your neighbors for noise pollution. Additionally, containing the noise will help in reducing distraction and annoyance.

Debris netting

Gravity has never been on anyone’s side. Therefore, at a construction site, you definitely expect debris, tools, and materials to keep falling. If tools, debris, and such other hazardous materials like nails fall on pedestrians, you may have the authorities to deal with, cases to respond to, and medical bills to foot. To protect yourself from all that, however, you can install debris netting for trapping any trash that may fall on pedestrians.

Shrink-wrap

Shrink-wraps work like debris netting. You can install them at any height to protect pedestrians and anyone else on the site from falling debris. They are also good with wind protection.
