PEGA Automation of Processes

It is possible to use robotic automation to automate repetitive tasks that are replicated in a workflow. Using the user interface of current systems, PEGA robotics adds the ability to automate activities. By automating user behaviour, it can assist in speeding up manual activities.

In PEGA Robotic Studio, automation is developed. The new available update is 8.0, which is easily downloadable from online sources.

Two forms of PEGA robotic automation are available.

  • Automation for Desktops (RDA)
  • Automation of procedures (RPA)

To get in-Depth knowledge on Pega RPAyou can enroll for a live demo on Pega robotic process automation training

Automation with PEGA Desktop

Desktop automation is used by integrating and automating desktops (or web applications) with PEGA 7 applications to provide users with a single desktop experience. Desktop or web apps can be launched from flow actions and data can be moved back and forth between the workflow and desktop apps.

Further, desktop automation can help minimise the repetitive work needed in several applications to copy and replicate data. This can help minimise the time a CRM representative has to spend on the phone with a customer and can also decrease data entry errors that can occur several times while entering the same data.

Using automation, legacy applications where APIs do not exist or are not compatible with new PEGA 7 applications can be incorporated.

PEGA Automation of Processes

Process automation is used to automate routine work in the high volume back-end. Case assignments are routed to a robotic queue from which a robotic automation VM gathers them for automation.

The job is similar to an agent, except the processing is performed by automation instead of processing the assignment by the PEGA applicant. To specify a robotic automation work queue, a new 'form' dropdown has been added to the workbasket instance. If the Robotic Style drop-down is chosen, two additional fields are displayed:

The maximum length of the queue:

This value is used to determine the maximum number of assignments that should be at a specified time in the queue.

Max execution time for automation:

The value is used to determine the maximum amount of time that the VM is supposed to take for automation to run.

In the PEGA Robotic Automation Console, automation VMs can be controlled. When the number of tasks reaches the maximum queue length or the execution time for automation, the robotic workbasket turns red. A sample programme is bundled with the automation console and can be downloaded from the PDN connexion.

PEGA Robotic Studio Installation and Setup

There are 2 available installation options.

  • Just installation runtime
  • The installation of PEGA Robotic Studio

The runtime client allows users to perform automation on the desktop of a user. After launching the runtime client and right-clicking the runtime icon in the taskbar, the automation project can be loaded. In order to allow the REST service (API) to handle automation requests from PEGA 7 applications, the checkbox must be checked when installing the client to allow RDA.

On top of Visual Studio, PEGA Robotic Studio is built on top. Robotic Studio is used for automation production. In PEGA the Pega Robotic Automation Architect Basics (8.0) course at PEGA Academy, you can find the installation files and instructions. The PEGA robotic Studio also includes a sample programme and guidance on how to construct an automation step by step. You can also invoke Automation from a PEGA programme by running a robotic studio debugger.

Runtime and PEGA Robotic Studio also have configuration files that need to be changed to the base URL of the PEGA server. Under C:/user / AppData / Roaming / OpenSpan, Config files are copied to the temp folder throughout runtime. -- time the Config files are changed, the files must be changed or removed from this folder in order to retrieve the new Config changes.

You can find the instructions for installation and configuration here.

Easy automation development at PEGA Robotic Studio

Start PEGA Robotic Studio and create a new PEGA Robotics Project (File > New) to create automation. For the project, enter a name. For this case, we will create an automation application for an insurance claim. A website (smartystreets.com) will be launched and the address data entered by the user will be validated.

Get the Guide to the PEGA application

By right-clicking the automation project and choosing Add New Web Application, you can add a new web application. Enter a name for a web application that is new.

PEGA Robotic Studio

Update the template name in the Properties panel of the web application, add the start page URL and save the application. Set my day property to start automatically.

To open the website and capture the input fields using the drag capture tool, click Start interrogation. The captured controls are added to the object explorer. You should change the design names for the controls in the property panel.

Add a new global container to the robotic component-adding project. It is possible to reuse these components in different automation.

Drag and drop my Start Day Control to the Global Control and change the name in the Properties Panel. This control will be used to launch the web application during automation.

Connect a new operation for the robot to the global container. In the Properties Panel, change the property name. Add an activity name that's exclusive. In the flow action (in PRPC), this robot operation name will be defined.

To take the property values out of the PEGA case, add the PEGA class name. To view the related properties for the class, click on the fields (collection ellipsis). Pick the properties to be used in the automation process. By going to the Designer Studio menu > Application > Inventory > Relevant records, you can add relevant properties for the class in PRPC.

Next, by right-clicking the project and choosing Add New Automation, we add the new automation.

To the automation, add the following objects and bind them.

  • ActivityStart of robotic action case
  • Start My Day Start Applications Method object. Attach a friendly name to the web application.
  • Address components of text boxes
  • Fix properties associated with the robotic operation

Perform the Check button click process in PEGA robotic studio

Specify the robotic operation name in the flow action to invoke and validate this new automation from the PRPC programme. The automation project can be checked by the use of robotic runtime by either debugging the project in the robotic studio or loading the project.

Automation can run when submitting the flow action. Address data is copied to the address fields of the website and the verify button is clicked (Perform Click method).

Automations can be activated from either a flow action's pre or post-processing. If automation is not available or fails to run, a message is displayed at the top of the screen and instead of being sent, and Ignore and Proceed button is displayed.

Conclusion

I hope you reach to a conclusion about PEGA robotic studio and Robotic process automation in PEGA. You can learn more through PEGA RPA Training.
