How to survive a pregnancy in winter?

Winter with its low temperatures, slippery pavements or ubiquitous viruses can be very troublesome. However, it is particularly troublesome for pregnant women. Fortunately, for the sake of safety and health, they do not have to close themselves off at home. Just follow some advice.

Diet

Winter menu should provide more energy and also support the body's immunity. However, one should remember not to exceed the indicated daily calorific value. Composed dishes must be rich in carbohydrates, protein, healthy fats and vitamins. This will prevent the feeling of sleepiness and fatigue. It is best to reach for cereal products (bread, groats, pasta), lean meats, dairy products, as well as products containing vitamin C (e.g. pickled cucumbers, broccoli, pepper).

Irrigation

When you are pregnant during the winter season, you should not forget to provide adequate irrigation. When staying in rooms heated by radiators, we risk drying the mucous membranes of the nose and mouth, causing a faster loss of water from the body. Therefore, the heating season produces a natural reaction in the form of increased thirst. When you are pregnant, it is best to quench it with non-carbonated water with a low degree of mineralisation and low sodium content, such as Mom and I. It does not contain any substances considered harmful, and thanks to its balanced composition it is an excellent supplement to the diet of pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and children. Drinking water will not only protect future mums from dehydration, but will also bring additional benefits in the form of moisturized smooth skin.

Clothing

Winter temperatures force the right choice of clothing. A great solution is to dress on the so-called onion. Thanks to this, when it is too hot you can easily get rid of one layer. It is worth remembering this, because overheating of the body can cause various infections. A future mother should get a loose jacket or coat, a cap, scarf, gloves, comfortable trousers, warm socks and a long jumper or blouse. Suitable shoes are also an obligatory accessory. It is best to choose those on a flat, non-slip, insulated sole, and at the same time easy to put on and well-fitting legs.

Movement

The principle of movement is also valid during pregnancy and at any time of year. Sitting or lying down for hours causes back pain and swelling in your legs and additionally increases the feeling of tiredness. The daily schedule should be accompanied by 20 minutes of walking, gymnastics for pregnant women, yoga or swimming. Activity in a blessed state is very important and advisable, as it has a great influence on the mood and resistance.

Rest

On winter days the pregnant body often signals the need for more sleep. Future mums should not defend themselves against it by allowing themselves to take naps for several minutes during the day. At night, on the other hand, the optimal sleeping time is about 9 hours. It is worth following this rule, because sleep not only regenerates the body after the effort of the whole day, but also strengthens immunity and improves the mood.
