Polymer Processing Aid Masterbatch is produced to enhance the extrusion ability of plastics products such as PVC. These masterbatches have been designed and present in the industry for many years but, they have never worked reliably in rigid PVC.

There are so many reasons for that. PVC is one of the complex materials that are highly sensitive to the introduction of additives.

And so, these masterbatches may be unsuitable in PVC because the carrier lubricates the compound.

Despite the fact, processors of that material have always had to discover just the right grade for their particular plant and application.

 

Thousands of PVC formulations on the chemical market

Consequently, there are thousands of PVC formulations available on the chemical market with different amounts of additives concerning the compounding level; all those developed to meet specific performance and processing requirements.

Conversely, polymer specific masterbatch for flexible PVC contains plasticizers that do not present compatibility problems when used in PVC, plasticizers are hence being added to a polymer chosen specifically for its unplasticized characteristics.

For over three decades now, color has been added to PVC by using concentrates such as:

  • Liquid Color
  • Wax Dispersions Color
  • Polymer Processing Aid Masterbatch

 

All of these introduce additional elements into the compound which, (depending on circumstances), might present processing difficulties or lead to application failures due to plasticizer migration or might be in the changes in physical properties of the final product. Conventionally, processing dilemmas could be lamination, plate out or screw slip.

In the final product, errors could manifest such as 'hazing' or migration.

Polymer processing aid masterbatches are used to help the material flow smoothly.

They also diminish melt viscosity, succeed in melt fracture, and reduce shear burning. The selection of these processing aids could be dependent on the application.
