A greedy love of coffee can kill

We have known for a long time that coffee has positive effects on our health, but do we know when it stops being the drink of the Gods and turns into a deadly poison.

Although this statement sounded threatening, one should not panic and abandon this pleasure, but only keep in mind the acceptable norm.

The vast majority of scientists recommend consuming up to 500 mg of caffeine, or up to 4 cups of coffee. Drunk in such quantities, it is not only harmless, but can also have a positive effect on the human body. Above 1000 mg, caffeine becomes toxic. It is rather impossible to determine the exact limit of toxicity, as it depends largely on a person's specific resistance to this chemical. Admittedly, we can come across a caffeine calculator on the web, which allows us to calculate a lethal dose of coffee based on body weight, but as noted, the measurement is not very accurate. According to its calculations, a person weighing 86 kilograms could drink 89 large coffees. This sounds incredible.

The minimum lethal dose is considered to be 3200 mg (taken in a single dose). A realistic lethal dose is 10 g, or about 80 cups at a time. Drinking this amount of coffee seems impossible to us, after all, exceeding 4 cups is defined as an overdose. An attempt would certainly end in returning the liquid and damaging the stomach. Even if it were possible, such an act would be considered a conscious balancing act.

Therefore, an overdose is not a threat to the black beverage lover who, although he starts and ends each day with a cup of coffee, knows that drinking it like water, in unlimited quantities, is a profanation of a noble drink.

There is also growing talk of so-called caffeinism, or compulsive consumption of caffeine. A caffeinist is someone who consumes more than 750 mg of caffeine per day, i.e. 3 cups of brewed coffee and 6 cups of instant coffee. This amount seems much more possible to us, but is it necessary? Getting drunk on coffee sounds more appealing than it is.

A true coffee lover knows that it only takes one sip to remember its exquisite taste and aroma.
