Tips for quicker and easier moving

Moving is stressful. It can sometimes be extra hard on people who lack organizational skills or the will to start packing in time. Luckily, professionals like Move Central are there to help out with useful advice on how to best prepare yourself and your stuff for an upcoming move.

You can, of course, do this on your own. If you feel confident enough or you don’t trust anyone with your things. Still, it is recommended to get someone to help out, as the job would get finished much quicker and without injuries or too many days off of work. Here are I some tips I learned when talking to the pros:

Plan ahead

Moving can be as simple as putting things inside boxes, still, if you want to get the job done efficiently and with care, it is best to make a thorough plan of execution. Whether you want to do it yourself or you prefer help from a moving agency, it is vital to plan ahead and be 100% ready when the day comes.

As I already mention in the intro, the amount of stress when you move can be pretty big, these little preparation exercises will certainly make it easier for you. Not only will you not be wasting time on what-should-go-first, but you’ll know exactly how to best avoid potential damage.

Never too early to start packing

You’d probably know the moving date months ahead. This is the perfect moment to not be lazy and slowly start packing. You can begin with clothes or items you know you wouldn’t be using soon. You can neatly arrange packed boxes in a corner, and proceed to the next item on the list without rush.

By doing so you’d be, yet again, reducing the amount of stress, but more importantly, have enough time and energy to neatly arrange everything and be absolutely ready when the day of moving comes.

Cleaning the house

Not literally, but you can still do that when you move out. What this means is that this is a good time to get rid of clothes you’ve been too reluctant to throw or give away for the past 5 or 10 years. Every home has some clutter that neither has a practical nor sentimental value. Now more than ever you can finally sort everything out and get on with your life. You will make your moving much easier, but also the mental relief of getting rid of unnecessary stuff is priceless.

Track your inventory

Every piece of clothing, furniture or appliance you put in a box might take a lot of time to find when you eventually move to a new place and start unpacking. There’s nothing worse than having to guess between 10 boxes when you want to find your coffee maker or favorite t-shirt.

What you should do is mark every box, write what’s inside, and keep track of everything on a piece of paper or via phone app. You can also take a picture of every finished box and write what’s inside in the description. By registering every box there will be no confusion when you commence the unpacking process.

Schedule a meeting with professionals

It is always good to have an extra pair of hands because there’s always a lot of work when you are moving. Packing your things is just 1 part of the job. Afterwards come transportation and unpacking. This is something where extra help would come in handy.

Spacey trucks combined with movers who can quickly pack up all the boxes into the vehicle, and later unpack at the location is money well spent. Save time and health and hire professionals to help you get this stressful job done with speed, quality and care.
