Blood, Heart and Circulation: How to Maintain Healthy Heart

We always try to maintain our health. No one wants to be ill for a long time. However, the health of the body depends on many criteria. In this article, we will discuss the health of heart and blood circulation. Most importantly, the discussion will be on how to maintain our heart healthy.

Heart:

This is the most important part of our body. We will talk about the functions of heart. Furthermore, this section will cover about maintenance of heart health.

The heart is located in the thoracic cavity (chest area). It is slightly tilted on left side. Due to the position of the heart, the left lung is slightly smaller in size than the right lung. The heart is near the size of a fist. For instance, make a fist by putting your thumb on your palm and covering it with all of your fingers. Your heart will probably have this much size inside your chest.

The heart consists of four chambers: two ventricles and two atria. The ventricles and atria are named right and left according to their positions. A big blood vessel, Aorta, is the largest artery leaving the heart and transporting oxygen-rich blood in the body. Aorta emerges from the left ventricle.

The main function of the heart is to circulate the blood throughout the body. To clarify, it pumps the blood which carries oxygen to the different organs of the body. However, it has nothing to do with love. For instance, the chemical reactions associated with love and other feelings come from the brain and not the heart. So, the heart is not responsible for love feelings.

The heart beats at the rate of 72 beats per minute (bpm). That is to say, the heart pumps the blood out 72 times in 60 seconds. To maintain the beats, we should take some necessary steps cited below.

How to Maintain Heart Health?

Avoid Fats and Cholesterol in Diet:

Firstly, we should improve our diet quality to maintain a healthy heart. The body needs fat but no trans-fat. Actually, the cholesterol present in our diet can harm the walls of the heart or blood vessels. So, minimizing the amount of cholesterol and trans-fat in diet can greatly affect our heart.

Due to cholesterol accumulation, the blood vessels might get blocked. It then results in operations like bypass surgery or stent placement. So, to avoid serious conditions like this, avoid trans-fats and cholesterol in the daily diet.

Avoid Smoking:

In recent years, this problem is one of the highest factors affecting the heart health. The smoke causes the heart muscles to inflate and it deteriorates the health of heart. However, if you are a non-smoker, living in cities with high pollution can affect the health of the heart.

You can wear a mask to save yourself from secondary smoking. The secondary smoking is the entry of smoke in body which was coming from someone else's body. This dangerously affects our health and we should avoid inhalation of smoke.

Consume Less Sugar:

To maintain a healthy heart, consume little amount of sugar. Do not use much sugar in tea or coffee. Moreover, you should consume little tea or coffee and almost no sugar with tea or coffee.

Exercise and Yoga:

This option always works as the main ingredient when we talk about maintaining health. Do exercise regularly and pranayama to maintain healthy heart.

Get Enough Sleep:

Getting enough sleep is another key component of keeping the bosy healthy. Not getting enough sleep is the major factor that deteriorates the health of the heart.

Eat This:

To maintain a healthy heart eat leafy green vegetables, berries, avocados, fish, beans, and dark chocolate.

Blood:

Now, let's have a look at the blood. In this section, we will talk about blood and its functions. An adult body has an average of 5 liters of blood.

The blood contains plasma and different types of cells. It has many functions to play in the body. Firstly, an important role of blood is to transport the oxygen from lungs to different organs of the body. Also, blood transports carbon dioxide from different organs to the lungs. The exchange of air is carried out by blood inside the body.

Secondly, the blood plays an important role in the immune system. The blood contains WBC (White Blood Cells), which are soldiers of our body. The WBCs protect our body from diseases and are parts of the immune system. It carries antibodies that fight against the infection.

Thirdly, blood has the function of repairing injuries and skin damages. Blood contains platelets. Platelets are the cells that clot and creates a black covering at the wound stopping the over-loss of blood from the injury.
