In a recent move, Instagram has allowed its live users to mute their audio or switch off their video. It seems that the social media network has taken this step to repeat the success of Clubhouse.

Now, the Live users on Instagram can turn their videos and mute their audio when broadcasting. The social media network Instagram has introduced this ability for the Live users recently. This is the latest move among the several ones that Facebook and its respective services take to drive their presence within the fast-growing space of audio features. In simple terms, it is another attempt to capitalize on the latest success of clubhouse directly.

Since the success and arrival of the audio chat app, Clubhouse, several services started focusing suddenly on audio-first features and services. It began a race among many social media developing names to release their identical versions of Clubhouse features. Recently, Facebook also joined this race and announced various new features based on audio.

It includes more seamless access to podcasts also. Meanwhile, Instagram introduced Live Rooms in March. The four users together can broadcast live using the Live Rooms feature. Users can easily use the Live Room feature by swiping left from the home screen of Instagram to pull its Live camera interface. It will help the creators to create a room.

You can also navigate by clicking on the plus sign at the top of the home screen. Plus, you can use the Live camera screen to add a title and guest with whom you want to go live for the broadcast. After launching Live Rooms, the social media network is looking further to introduce more control to the going live feature. So, it has decided to allow the users to disable their video or mute their audio completely during their live broadcast.

Alexandru Voica of Facebook confirmed the news of adding the option to mute audio or disable video during the live broadcast on Twitter. Further, TechCrunch has also confirmed that the social media network is all set to roll out the new feature on iOS and Android platforms both.

Moreover, TechCrunch has also said that hosts will not turn off the video or audio for others participating in a Livestream right now. However, it said that the social media network might make this option available to the users in near future along with these advanced controls.

The Latest Tweaks Inspired From Clubhouse

The latest feature tweaks are easy enough for the users to use. Those participating in Live Room can click on the video or mic button quickly appearing at the bottom of their screen. It will help them to disable either audio or video or both at the same time.

It is not uncommon for the service where users engage with each other over video. Also, you can’t differentiate it from the new features that Facebook has introduced to replicate the success like Clubhouse.

After all, despite being the service heavily focused on photos and visuals, Instagram has now offered an option to the users to engage and chat within a setting based on audio-only. Amidst all, when too many social media services are trying to replicate and capitalize on the success of the audio chat app, Clubhouse, the pressure for the original service has increased.

The new figures are suggesting that the number of Clubhouse monthly installations has dropped dramatically. The exact reason behind these dramatic falls is not apparent. It may be because Clubhouse was not so active to increase the number of its installations.

Apart from Instagram and Facebook, Discord, Twitter, and even Reddit are also in the process of announcing audio-only and audio-first features. In some cases, these services have lagged behind Clubhouse in rolling out the features that many users are willing to see on the audio chat app. They have introduced much quicker than Clubhouse can do.

These social media networks established players within the landscape. They are equipped with resources that have made it easy for them to test, develop and deploy new features. Unlike the audio chat app, Clubhouse, social media services like Instagram are already available on both iOS and Android. It is easy for them to release the new features. The faster they introduce new features, the more they get the chance to establish themselves firmly in the near future as the audio networking app.
