WHY HIRE AN INTERIOR DESIGNER INSTEAD OF A CARPENTER

Basically, if you are a person who owns a new house and thinks about furnishing your interiors, the first question would be about the possibilities of doing the same. Or probably you are going to set out a searching spree, looking for, “List of interior designers in Chennai” or maybe when looking at the cost perspective, you might start with, “Interior design cost”.

It’s not really acceptable to start looking for factory – finished woodwork for interiors and fancy displays of models when we have always preferred carpenters who come home and work for days and months together cutting and pasting the materials. But to be honest, you have started looking for the comparison because the finish of the factory- processed woodwork seemed better and you wanted an idea about the pros and cons of the same. So, this article would give you a clarity on why should you hire an interior designer when we have been conventionally working with carpenters who have specifically been carrying out wood works for our homes over the years and generations.

PRE-PLANNED DESIGN IDEAS

Basically with the carpentry finish the process would involve the purchasing of materials, and the process could be carried out on site. And so, the flexibility of changing the design when something goes wrong in the site is intact. But you wouldn’t have an idea about the whole outlook unless it’s done./

While working with a professional, interior designer, the whole designs would be discussed on software and 2-D drawings and the production would be initiated only when you have the whole idea about the new outlook of how your house would look with the interiors.

THE FINISH

The factory finished interiors are always fully done from the factory and only the installation takes place on the site. This would make the dismantling of the cabinets in the future easier without wastage of the woodwork. Wherein, a carpenter finish can never be moved after fixing without extra work because those cabinets are fixed permanently.

COST

The first thought about fancy designs and classy interiors would also make us think about the amount we have to shed from our pockets. Quality and cost are two completely different entities, but unfortunately, in this materialistic world, they both are proportional. As we reduce the amount we could spend on the woodwork, we might have to compromise on the quality. Interiors aren’t a small affair; it’s something that we are going to invest for a life-time for our dream home. So it’s okay to do the interiors in parts. We don’t have try fitting the whole of the full home requirements in the small budget that we have parted. It’s okay to spend the money on quality and reduced volume. The latter could be added again when we are ready to pool in an extra budget for the next time. If you have a low budget framed down, it’s better to do the home interiors in 2 parts with a decent budget, than spending the first part on low quality and increased volume while using the second part to repair the same.

I really hope that the above has given you an idea about the carpenter-made vs factory- made interior works. It’s okay to always compare, have a look at the finishes that have been carried out by both the carpenters and the professional designer firms. Because, if you are going to settle for either of the two just with the passing comments that people give around you, you are never going to be satisfied. Because anything that’s done without careful assessment will never give you the satisfaction even if it turns out well!! Walk down to a couple of interior showrooms, have a look for yourself about the finishes and also make sure to visit the previously finished sites that have lasted over years. Carefully assess the pros and cons and take a decision. And again to make the point clear, quality always comes with a price. So compare the cost while never forgetting to compare the material specifications and the factory processes. So it’s up to you now, taking the right choice.

Happy designing!!
