To celebrate Trafalgar Day, The Ministry of Defence has revealed the name of the first of Britain's four new Trident submarines.

Thankfully they didn't leave the naming to the internet, so it's called Dreadnought rather than the hilariously unoriginal Subby McSubFace.

It's a decision inspired by ships of the past, with the MoD stating that nine ships have carried the name in the past.

The most famous of these was the HMS Dreadnought commissioned in 1908, and helped transform naval warfare for the 20th century.

At the time the name was used to describe the new era of warship design.

Other Dreadnoughts include one that helped fight off the Spanish Armada, and another present at the battle of Trafalgar.
