At a recent event in Los Angeles, producer Toshio Suzuki explained that Hayao Miyazaki is hard at work on a new movie.

Miyazaki entered semi-retirement back in 2013, as he felt it was difficult to continue the long working hours necessary in animation production.

However, even before that Miyazaki would often say he was retiring only then to go on and make a new movie.

It seems that cycle is still ongoing and that Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli are working on a new feature film production.

It’s likely that the new film is Boro the Caterpillar, as this was originally meant to be an animation short for the Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Tokyo.

However, on upon working on the short Miyazaki felt it needed to be a longer feature film.
