p WhatsApp has been hit with a major outage, with millions of users unable to make use of the messaging service.
The outage, which affected users in the UK, Europe, Asia and America, ran for a number of hours last night, May 3.
With problems starting at around 9pm, users were unable to send or receive text messages, photos or videos.
While WhatsApp has claimed the issue has now been fixed, according to independent website DownDetector, a number of UK users are still experiencing issues with the app.
Responding to the outage last night, an official WhatsApp spokesperson confirmed the issue and apologised to users for the inconvenience.
"Earlier today, WhatsApp users in all parts of the world were unable to access WhatsApp for a few hours," the spokesperson told Engadget.
