Fans of The Addams Family can now try to book a room in a home that mimics the frighteningly funny family's mansion.Lodging site Booking.com announced Thursday that it's offering just four one-night stays in an Addams-themed home from Oct. 29-Nov. 1.(Yes, some extra-lucky lodger will get to stay there on Halloween night.)You likely know of the creepy, kooky Addams Family, created by cartoonist Charles Addams.Mom Morticia, dad Gomez, kids Wednesday and Pugsley, and other relatives and friends including Uncle Fester, Cousin It, Lurch and Thing were featured in a number of popular TV shows, with the most iconic one running from 1964-1966 and starring John Astin and Carolyn Jones.A number of more recent movies revived the ghoulish gang, with the latest opening Oct. 11.
These horrific fish-out-of-water are about to get a taste of suburban life, as the latest trailer for The Addams Family brings the classic goth ensemble to the most-terrifying place on earth: New Jersey.The Addams Family stars Charlize Theron and Oscar Isaac as the matriarch and patriarch of the Addams clan, along with Chloë Grace Moretz as Wednesday, Finn Wolfhard as Pugsley, Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester, and Bette Midler as Grandmama.We’ve also got Allison Janney playing Margaux Needler, a reality TV makeover host who tries to get the Addams to “Assimilatte” into New Jersey suburbia, only to eventually try and turn the whole town against them.Because, you know, they’re “not normal.” They have a cousin made of hair.I do like how the designs are based on the original New Yorker cartoons by Charles Addams, which give them a slightly timeless vibe.I also get that this version is totally for kids, so I’m going to cut it some slack.

MGM just dropped the first teaser for its animated reboot of The Addams Family, and it's exactly what you'd expect from the franchise—no more, no less.American cartoonist Charles Addams created the characters in 1938, originally as a series of single-panel cartoons published in The New Yorker.They were his satirical sendup of American "family values," turning the entire social framework upside down.The characters proved so popular that ABC created a 1964 live-action sitcom, The Addams Family, based on them.(Not everyone was pleased by the development.Wallace Shawn was editor of The New Yorker at the time, and his refined sensibilities were allegedly so offended by the TV series that he actually banned Addams Family cartoons from the magazine; the characters didn't return to its pages until he retired in 1987.)
