According to the rumors regarding a Netflix live-action adaptation of The Legend Of Zelda, Tom Holland has been included in the crew to play the character of Link.He has also played some serious roles like Paul Atreides in the upcoming film Dune.Michelle Yeoh – ImpaThe character role of Impa has to be played by an actor who can be severe and formal but should also be an action hero.Michelle Yeoh appears perfect for the role of Impa after her appearance in Star Trek: Discovery where she played the role of Philippa Georgiou. If we look at his past roles, he has fantastic variety in both leading and supporting roles. This can be a reason for casting Hugo Weaving for the role of Agahnim because he would do so well as the main villain in the most famous game in the series, A Link to the Past.Jeff Bridges – Rhoam Bosphoramus HyruleJeff Bridges is one of the actors who have played a variety of characters in live-action movies. In this way, Jeff could easily play the role of one of Hyrule’s head of state if The Legend of Zelda is going to be an animation series in the spirit of Castlevania.
Alejandro Jodorowsky tried to adapt Herbert’s story in 1970 in which he was not successful because of financial issues (the saga which has been relayed in a 2013 documentary “Jodorowsky’s Dune”), and now in a recent interview with France’s Premiere Magazine, he reflected his thoughts on the newly released trailer and wished good luck to Denis and the entire production staff. In his comment, Jodorowsky remarked that though the scenes are really good, the money which made the film very expensive did nothing about its predictability.Denis Villeneuve’s Dune looks pretty much the same in “form,” as did the other on-screen adaptations of Frank Herbert’s novel. He clearly stated that industrial cinema is made solely for the purpose of entertainment, and for the industry, everything else is secondary when compared to money and profit. It is not built with the purpose of changing society or humanity. However, in an interview with IndieWire in August, Alejandro Jodorowsky was skeptical about anyone pulling off such a film.David Lynch tried to make it in 1984, which resulted in a monumental failure starting with Lynch taking his name from the credits after he was denied his director cut and his total disapproval of the theatrical cut.In the interview with the premiere magazine, Jodorowsky also gave his insights on the book. And according to him, that is what makes it so hard to adapt because it’s not a child’s play to find images to substitute the words written in the novel.
Anyone who's seen David Lynch's 1984 film knows Frank Herbert's book doesn't translate easily to the screen.
Warner Bros. has unveiled explosive footage from Denis Villeneuve’s science-fiction thriller starring Timothee Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, and a lot of spell-binding scenes. The trailer offers a look into magnificent production design, out of this world action, fabulous costumes of the cast, along with everything else that Villeneuve has used to make his world of Dune, which is augmented by the music given by master composer Hans Zimmer. He always had this day-dream of adapting Frank Herbert’s novel since the time he was a teenager, and now cinema giant Warner Bros. along with Legendary, have given him a pedestal to mount his vision of utmost cinematic grandeur. The footage shown in the trailer, along with its music that adds a sense of emotional feel to it, can put any science fiction film to shame.Academy Award-nominated film Call Me by Your Name had given exposure in Hollywood to actor Timothee Chalamet who eventually found his way to star in Dennis Villeneuve’s Dune playing the protagonist Paul Atreides, descendent of a family that takes control over a minacious desert planet called Arrakis. In particular, Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides and Zendaya will occupy center stage surrounded by a stellar supporting cast of Rebecca Ferguson, Jason Momoa, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, No Country for Old Men star Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, and Charlotte Rampling.Dune is the latest name that has been added to the list of science fiction films made by Denis Villeneuve, who looks to have launched an incursion into the genre. It is expected that both films could very well make their way to the best sci-fi films of the 21st century. It looks the duo has given a lot of time in the project as “Dune” is expected to be a visceral exaltation akin to the pedigrees achieved by 2018 DC tentpole Aquaman which was in itself a stupendous cinematographic effort. It is an undisputed fact and imperative to be kept in mind while reviewing the film in the future that Dune is a very difficult venture if not an impossible venture.

Denis Villeneuve has made some alteration to the books, and this time around Lady Jessica will have much more importance. As Ferguson, herself must have demanded, but now it is confirmed that Lady Jessica is a much more important character in the upcoming Christmas tentpole. She adds a different dimension with her role as Ilsa Faust in Tom Cruise starrer Mission Impossible franchise, and now it will be interesting to see what she will bring to the audience as Lady Jessica. In the book written by Frank Helbert, Ferguson’s character Lady Jessica is a mother to the hero of the story Paul Atreides (the character which will be played by Timothee Chalamet on screen).Lady Jessica had no significant importance in the books other than being a stereotypical mother, but Villeneuve has expanded the role of utilizing more acting skills of Rebecca Ferguson.Villeneuve expounded his idea about Lady Jessica in a statement that he made to the Empire Magazine that expansion of the role was necessary to bring forward the balance between the powers of men and women, something which is an intrinsic characteristic of the book.He has expanded the role and emphasized on her being a warrior and a trainer as much as her being a mother. She is a part of a group called Bene Gesserit and possesses supernatural abilities such as telekinesis.Villeneuve diligently worked with the screenwriters of the film Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts to create a more powerful Lady Jessica.Ferguson lauded Villeneuve’s efforts for Lady Jessica, and even though he has a lot of respect for the author, Villeneuve decided to make some alteration considering the socio-political climate.Ferguson will play the role of Lady Jessica and will spend a lot of time alongside actor Oscar Isaac who will play the role of Duke Leto.Isaac recently made a statement to the Empire in which he confessed his love for the project which stemmed not from Villeneuve’s vision but because of anti-monopolistic and ecologist sentiments.Isaac further added that the story is about when different cultures tyrannize others, and when the people are so pushed against the wall that they have no other option but to fight back harder than ever. There is so much we can correlate with the story seeing our present world in front of our eyes.“It’s about the destiny of the people,” Isaac said.Dune is a big Christmas tentpole, and it will be released by Warner Bros on December the 18th, 2020.source: https://ratinglr.com/rebecca-fergusons-expanded-role-in-dune/
With seemingly every actor in Hollywood lining up to be in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, it makes sense Warner Bros. would finally line up a release date.Dune will be in cinemas November 20, 2020 in both IMAX and 3D.It’s currently the only other film scheduled for release that weekend. The cast, as we mentioned, is impressive and growing, but it’s headlined by Timothee Chalamet as Paul Atreides, the young leader of a family fighting to take back control of the planet Arrakis and its valuable spice trade. The film is based on a classic 1965 Frank Herbert novel which David Lynch turned into a cult favourite 1984 film.Read about just some of the insane casting in the linked articles.

Deadline Hollywood reports that Aquaman star Jason Momoa—who immortalized Dothraki warlord Khal Drogo in the first season of Game of Thrones—is in negotiations to portray another science-fiction warrior, Duncan Idaho from Dune, Frank Herbert's beloved 1965 science fiction novel.(Mild spoilers for original novel below.)Dune is set in the distant future (where else? There's faster-than-light space travel, a prophecy concerning a messianic figure, giant sandworms, and lots of battles, as protagonist Paul Atreides (a duke's son) strives to defeat the forces of Shaddam IV, Emperor of the known universe. That brief synopsis hardly does justice to the sweeping grandeur and enormous cultural influence of Herbert's novel. It took 20 years before Dune was finally adapted into a film in 1984 by director David Lynch, starring Kyle MacLachlan as Paul Atreides.
Director Denis Villeneuve is trying anyway. The Oscar-nominated filmmaker, who previously helmed Arrival and Blade Runner, promised that his Dune will be a more faithful take on the source material than other adaptations, and he’s assembled an all-star cast to make it a reality.Josh Brolin, who is currently menacing the Avengers as Thanos, will play lead character Paul Atreides’ mentor, Gurney Halleck.Star Wars veteran Oscar Isaac will trade his X-Wing for a sandworm as Paul’s father, Duke Leto Atreides. And Aquaman himself, Jason Momoa, is in talks to play Duncan Idaho, the only character to appear in all six of Herbert’s Dune novels. They’ll join Timothée Chalamet (Call Me by Your Name, Beautiful Boy), who will star in Dune as Paul Atreides, the nobleman-turned-messiah and the head of an interstellar uprising.
