If the people in your household do a good job of scraping or rinsing off their plates before sticking them in the dishwasher, it can be hard to tell when the dishes inside are clean or dirty.Sure, you could have some sort of indicator on the outside of the dishwasher, but if you like to keep your kitchen clutter free, Alice Medrich at Food52 recommends you try this:Keep a small glass in the top front corner of the rack.Empty the glass after you put the dishes away: An empty glass means dishes are dirty. As long as you remember to pour the glass out, it will work every time.No clutter, no mess, and you barely have to open the dishwasher to check. How to Hack the Kitchen Tools You Need Why Not to Buy Them Food52
Doing it in our studio seemed right, especially when you find that alchemy and togetherness while you re making a record.Digital Trends: There s a definite lo-fi minimalist feel to Delusions, but this is a headphones record to me because there are so many textures going on in every song.I m pretty limited.I ve got about four fingers, but they do the trick. With it, I did a close mic and a room mic for the acoustic guitar, and then I did a few vocals through a Shure SM57, one track of the Wurlitzer, and then one track of an organ.I know I can sit there with my children and go, OK, guys, today is Beatles day, and you re gonna learn.
A new batch of ominous warnings about job-killing robots just arrived from the usual suspects, very clever, credentialed, accomplished people mingling at a glamourous watering-hole: in this case, the Milken Institute's Global Conference in Beverly Hills, California. These warnings tend to follow a predictable script: sufficiently urgent to get attention, but fuzzy enough to stop short of alarming.Warnings about the impact of robotics on people s jobs almost always have a temporizing quality: for example, at this conference robots are capable of taking over low-skill document management or Wall Street spreadsheet jockeys specialized jobs, yet aren t at the point of actually eliminating broad job categories. It is old school, beginning as a one-way transfer of data from computer green screens via the terminal s memory. It s also often an interface of last resort for an old school problem, the challenges organizations face in linking legacy systems with new applications, including lack of legacy documentation, source code and lost skillsets. This use is what many people are referring to when they speak about swivel-chair automation.Related Article: Buying In the Cloud: How Cloud Technology is Revolutionizing the Retail IndustryRPA PerceptionBut moving to web-scraping technology still left RPA with two major limitations, both of which reinforced the perception this robotic technology could only play a limited role, with limited scope, in business process automation.Limited Role in Process AutomationWhile web-scraping is highly effective, it customarily takes place at the task level while employees typically operate at both the task and activity level. The answer would appear to be yes; according to the Everest Group, 78 percent of GICs have either implemented RPA or are actively planning pilots.Related Article: When Tech Meets Pets: How Technology Is Serving Man's Best FriendWhat About AI & Cognitive, etc.?But what of the exotic technologies so many thought leaders are waiting for: AI, cognitive, machine learning? The answer is that they re important and will broaden RPA s footprint in ways that are hard to fully envision.

It would be one thing if a company just scraping by tacked on a tiny fee, but Verizon hauled in $7.9 billion in profit last quarter on $32.2 billion in sales while AT s operating income climbed to $7.1 billion on revenue totaling $40.5 billion.MUST SEE: 2 new Craigslist scams you need to watch out forEvery few years like clockwork, a new company comes along to save us from cell phone carriers. The company s Google Fi service uses a combination of cellular and Wi-Fi to offer dirt-cheap prices — unlimited voice and text messaging cost just $20 per month, and then Google charges $10 for every 2GB of data.Apple may or may not have investigated the possibility of launching its own wireless service in the past, but we now have definitive word from CEO Tim Cook that the company will not enter the wireless space. We ll do some things along the way with e-SIMs along the way, but in general, I like the things carriers do.The wait continues…Thanks to the sharing economy, living in five different cities in five years has never been more doable.
When it comes to the relationship with our banks would probably most of us do not communicate with them more than is absolutely necessary. To then have to book an appointment with an advisor at a bank and move to a bank branch, which of course must take place during business hours because they open late and close early, something is scraping against the absolute bottom of the priority list. Researchers in Finland say the answers are on the Internet. They're adding their voices to the idea that Google data can help improve economic analysis and forecasts in areas such as the labor market.By tracking searches for terms such as unemployment benefits or career service across the European Union, the Research Institute of the Finnish Economy in Helsinki says it's able to predict unemployment as much as three months in advance. While central banks and statistics agencies have already expressed interest — and some  already use it to get additional insights — ETLA says it can now estimate real-time unemployment rates using web searches. The newly unveiled research could have predicted joblessness in Portugal, where ETLA s Google Index began to spike in 2011 before the unemployment rate did. There are over 100 billion Google searches every month, and each search is someone expressing an interest in or a demand for something.ETLA s nowcast as of late last week showed that unemployment is currently 4.93 percent in the U.K., 20.58 percent in Spain, 11.11 percent in Finland and 10.14 percent in France. The European Commission is examining the issue, and Britain s Office for National Statistics is planning to use new methods including web scraping to better measure the economy. But it's not a simple case of out with the old and in with the new.The real success will come if you combine all of those things, because we are deeply convinced that you always will need official statistics as a benchmark for many other data sources.
It takes a unique strategy to reach the different places on the totem pole.Click scrape at the bottom of the tool, and your results on the right side should look like they did for Alltop. There are some duplicates, and scraping BlogRank brought in the URLs for the RSS feeds as well which we don t want , so we need to clean this list up before we can manipulate and import it.A press kit should include the following:Company OverviewFounder PhotosLogo s Press MentionsProduct Screenshots or photographs The Grasswire press kit included another document we called the Grasswire Story, because the idea that I lived in my car for a few months to get it off the ground was quite compelling.Underwater Audio seals the iPod from the inside out using a proprietary process, and we have tested it at a depth of 200 feet though we don t recommend Underwater Audio for diving .I ve also gone back and forth with varying levels of personalization, a la I read your article about x and I really liked y or I m a huge fan of your work enough to make it clear that an email is really personalized, but the difference in results has been negligible, especially if you don t put in the research to understand writer or his publication.
on us with the launch of the Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected, a connected toothbrush designed to help you get better at scraping bristles against your mouth bits, because it s harder than it looks. The high-tech brush connects with the Philips Sonicare app via Bluetooth, tracking your brushing habits in real time and mapping the insides of your gob to show you the bits you keep missing that will eventually rot and fall out at a particularly inconvenient time.It also features an accelerometer and gyroscope, and provides personalised feedback both short- and long-term , warning you about excessive pressure and areas that need more attention, and teaching you about how to achieve better coverage. For added fun, show the app to your dentist, who ll give you a pat on the head in return.Or rip your teeth out, because everyone knows real dentists aren t like the ones you see on TV adverts.Philips' product actually has a price though, coming in at $200 £138 .

He was originally expected to receive his sentence in December but the date got pushed back.On Monday, Wallace learned that he ll spend two-and-a-half years in prison followed by five years of supervised release.U.S. District Judge Edward J. Davila also ordered him to pay $310,628.55 in restitution according to the Office of the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of California.Wallace managed to automate the process of signing into a Facebook user s account, scraping their list of friends then contacting each friend with a junk message that would trick them into giving up their account credentials.Wallace got his start by sending junk faxes, a tactic that tied up recipients' phone lines and cost them money in the form of toner and paper.Wallace will begin serving his sentence on September 7, 2016.
Over at MIT s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory CSAIL , a team of six researchers created a machine-learning system that matches sound effects to video clips. Before you get too excited, the CSAIL algorithm can t do its audio work on any old video, and the sound effects it produces are limited. The fake audio was selected 22 percent of the time—very far from perfect, but still twice as effective as a previous version of the algorithm.According to Owens, those test results are a good sign that the computer-vision algorithm can detect the materials an object is made of, as well as the different physics of tapping, whacking, and scraping an object.Sometimes it thought the drumstick was striking an object when it actually didn t, and more people were fooled by its sound effects for leaves and dirt than its sound effects for more solid objects. If perfected, Owens thinks the computer-vision tech could help robots identify the materials and physical properties of an object by analyzing the sounds it makes.

I'm currently manually hunting email addresses on target business websites for cold emails campaigns, but it's extremely exhausting.I'm considering buying a big list filtered down as well as I can to the targeted job title/field not CEOs .I currently dedicate entire days to scraping google maps for target businesses and hunting for a relevant contact. My business will max out with 50 more clients, so my overall goal is to eventually send 2000 emails over a few months, hoping land 150 face to face meetings and close 50 of them. This finding process is too time consuming, but my hope is that buying list trimmed down to the particular job field, I can focus less time trying to confirm an email is decent than my current research confirm. Thanks for the help!
Plaid Technologies founders Chief Technology Officer William Hockey, left, and Chief Executive Zach PerretPlaid Technologies Inc., whose software allows a variety of financial-technology startups to access their customers bank account information, has raised $44 million in a new round led by a fund at Goldman Sachs Group Inc. GS 3.25 %The new funding is a boost for apps and websites that use Plaid, which has now raised about $60 million total, as they work to ensure access to customer data held by banks.Zach Perret, co-founder of Plaid, said that the past six months have seen increasing cooperation between banks and fintech firms, though so far that hasn t led to a resolution.Plaid, founded in 2012, has raised money from Goldman, New Enterprise Associates Inc., Spark Capital and other venture investors.Jon Stein, chief executive at Betterment, said his firm uses Plaid to verify that customers have the money in their bank accounts when they transfer funds. He said fintech firms would agree to more-secure connections with banks—avoiding what is known as screen scraping, or simply plugging data from a webpage by using a customer s username and password—as long as they are provided.Nobody likes screen scraping, but not all banks have made alternatives available yet, he said.
