p Did Nasa astronauts Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin really walk on the moon in 1969, or was it part of an elaborate ruse directed by Stanley Kubrick? Are aircraft leaving 'chemtrails' in the sky, chemical agents sprayed for mysterious and nefarious purposes? Is there actually a cure for cancer, suppressed by pharmaceutical companies in order to protect valuable 'alternative' medicines?Unfortunately for the more imaginative conspiracy theorists among us, the answer to all of these questions is likely to be a resounding no.The equation, which has been published in Plos One, is made up of three factors: the number of conspirators involved, how much time has passed since the alleged conspiracy took place, and the "intrinsic probability of a conspiracy failing".This intrinsic measure was estimated by looking at data from conspiracies that had later been revealed to be true – the PRISM surveillance program, which was revealed by Edward Snowden after several years, the Tuskegee syphilis scandal, which withheld the cure for syphilis from African-Americans and was revealed after 25 years, and an FBI scandal which led to the execution of innocent people, unveiled by a doctor after six years.
Well, most of the time that wasn’t just coincidence – those photos were taken during what’s commonly known as the golden hour, also known as the magic hour. Also, while the terms are nearly synonymous, golden hour actually has a definition based on the measurable angle of the sun to the horizon, whereas magic hour is a broader term that sometimes incorporates both the golden hour and the blue hour — another measurable time based on the sun’s angle to the horizon. The temperature of the light during this time is, as the name suggests, in the yellow range when it comes to the light spectrum. When the sun is very low in the sky, its angle is more drastic in relation to the earth, making shadows longer and softer.Having long shadows in your shot helps show all three dimensions of the world when you’re trying to capture them in a two dimensional space.Shooting portraits during the golden hour

There s the silent protagonist: a buzz-cut, space marine who sprints hyperactively through monotone corridors, firing shotgun rounds into the faces of occult-ish monsters.Doom made millionaires of its young designers, a group that included the wunderkind programmer John Carmack, who last month was awarded a Bafta fellowship, the Academy s highest honour. Then last year s Undertale allowed you, finally, to befriend them. This is a game designed to be played molto allegro; Run isn t a toggle on the keyboard – it s the default pace.2016 s Doom borrows the concept.Still, at least the sky is a nice shade of mustard yellowDoom s muscular campaign is its strongest asset, but there is some joy to be had in its fidgety multiplayer mode although this, bizarrely, requires the console game to reboot each time you wish to play online .
BT last week announced plans to show the Europa League tonight and Champions League finals for free online, and a report from the Daily Mail s Charles Sale suggests that Google will keep a particularly keen eye out for YouTube viewing figures for the two fixtures.According to the report, the search giant will use the games as markers for joining the multi-billion-pound battle for Premier League TV rights at the next tender .Simply put, if it likes what it sees, Sky and BT have a lot of thinking to do.Champions League viewing figures have suffered enormously throughout this season, which is believed to be the main reason why the finals will be shown for free tonight and next week. The prospect of live Premier League football on YouTube is mouth-watering and, with the site playing host to live events with increasing regularity, wouldn t represent completely new territory for Google. We can already imagine the dreadful 'Googooooooooal' puns and West Brom's Claudio 'YouTube' Yacob being used as a highly-questionable poster boy.

Meteors become bright 'fireballs' when debris is either larger than normal, or moving incredibly fast.Photo: Wally Pacholka / AstroPics.com / TWANPolice Sergeant Tim Farris was patrolling the streets of Portland, Maine early Tuesday morning when he caught a very different kind of speeder on his dashboard camera — a meteor.Meteors are small grains of interplanetary debris that smack into our atmosphere at breakneck speeds and burn up, streaking through the night sky like shooting stars. As Earth orbits through the tail of Halley's Comet, it produces a meteor shower called the Eta Aquarids, which we are currently in the midst of.When a meteor is so bright that it outshines the rest of the sky, it's called a fireball.Fireballs are created when the debris is either larger than normal, or moving at incredibly fast speeds.
The Queen speaking during the State Opening of Parliament on May 18, 2016All sites containing "pornographic material" will be hidden behind age-verification blocks, the government has confirmed in the Queen's speech.Similar criticisms have been made of current ISP-level adult content filters, which can be dodged using basic techniques such as VPNs or even Google Translate.A blanket age-block on all pornographic material online would be a major escalation of existing systems. At the time the government said it wanted to create a "family friendly" internet free from pornography, gambling and extreme violence. In December 2014 it emerged thanks BT, Sky and Virgin Media had been hijacking people's web connections to force customers to make a decision. In January 2015 Sky started blocking all adult websites by default for all customers who had failed to decide.

Jemisin s Fifth Season, and fire-under-rusting-Earth there s so much to talk about it.Katie Palmer, Senior Associate Editor: Once I hit the interlude, everything started making more sense to me—and I started noticing the artful lack of knowledge in the world.Less willful ignorance, more the kind of narrow focus necessary in the face of disaster, of which there s no shortage in The Fifth Season.Rubin: I can t believe I m admitting this in print, Jay, but you pointing that out is the first time I d confronted what happened to Crack beyond oh hey exile too bad kid BACK TO THE STORY.Fallon: Which is interesting, because some themes, of course, Jemisin is grabbing you by the shirt collar and shaking you and saying, Here, this is a thing you really need to think about!Dayrit: Homosexuality, bisexuality, gender identity, transgenderism, all the issues that bog us down in our society are given little weight in The Fifth Season, perhaps because the moral code of the Stillness is rooted in actual hellfire and brimstone from the ground, not from some patriarchal god floating somewhere in the sky.
Arkham Asylum versus Arkham City is the Alien/Aliens of our generationRumours about the Batman remastered collection have given the rereleases a mythical stature not a million miles away from the caped crusader himself. But now the Bat-Signal is blazing through the sky, and Warner Brothers have officially announced the Batman: Return to Arkham collection for the PS4 and Xbox One.With the issues that are still plaguing Arkham Knight, I wouldn't expect it to surface on Steam soon. The remastered titles are Arkham Asylum and Arkham City, widely known as "the good Arkham games", and they're being worked on by Virtuos, the studio behind Heavy Rain's recent port to the current gen, and indeed, it all looks very pretty so far.The collection will release on July 29.Get this trailer in your eyeballs, won't you?
New upstarts like DriveClub have tried to steal the crown, but Polyphony is finally back to defend it with GT Sport. With some serious sponsorships and FIA approval, the first Gran Turismo to hit the PS4 is gearing up for its parade lap, but after I got the chance to sniff the virtual petrol at Sony's London launch event, I'm wondering if there have been a few missed gears in the run up to launch. There were 20 on show at the reveal event, with 137 promised for the full release, split between four power groups.Beginners should stick to the hot hatches and stock sportscars of Group 4, but eventually you'll progress up to the mental race-spec road warriors and fictional GT Vision concept cars of Group 1.Anyone can jup into an official FIA race weekend, with winners from each region progressing to an international finals event, with full race commentary and global broadcast online.Polyphony has a long way to go to hit the eSports big time, but the in-game spectator camera looked as slick as anyting you'd see on Sky Sports F1.
Liverpool v Sevilla in the Europa League final: Daniel Sturridge celebrates scoring a goal with Adam Lallana and Coutinho.Photograph: Rex/ShutterstockIt was heartbreak for Liverpool but Jürgen Klopp s side s 3-1 Europa League defeat by Sevilla scored BT Sport s biggest audience to date with a peak of 3.5 million viewers.BT Sport s live coverage of Wednesday night s final, which the broadcaster made free to non-subscribers on a variety of different platforms including YouTube, drew an average of 1.6 million viewers on BT Sport Europe and another 606,000 viewers at the same time on BT Sport Showcase, a combined audience of 2.2 million.BT Sport said it was its highest average audience and peak audience to date, Jake Humphrey anchoring the action from Basel, joined by former Liverpool stalwarts Michael Owen and Steve McManaman.Audiences for the Europa League and Champions League have inevitably taken a tumble since the exclusive live rights were bought by BT in an £897m deal three years ago, beginning with the 2015/2016 season.Previously the rights were shared by ITV, which broadcast all its games free to air, and pay-TV partner Sky.

The details were apparently taken when LinkedIn was hacked four years agoA hacker claiming to have more than one hundred million LinkedIn logins is advertising them for sale online. The extensive list of user IDs and passwords were allegedly sourced from a cyber attack on the networking site four years ago.According to news site Motherboard, a hacker calling himself "Peace" has placed the alleged details of 117 million LinkedIn users on "dark web" marketplace The Real Deal for the price of 5 Bitcoin - the digital currency - worth around £1,500.In the wake of the 2012 breach, only around 6.5 million details were posted online - but LinkedIn's chief information security officer Cory Scott said he does not believe the extra data was gained as the result of a new security breach."In 2012, LinkedIn was the victim of an unauthorised access and disclosure of some members' passwords," he said."We are taking immediate steps to invalidate the passwords of the accounts impacted, and we will contact those members to reset their passwords," he said.

Courtesy of VISUALHOUSEFourteen years from now, New York s skyline will be one vastly different than the recognizable profile visible today. With dozens of new projects set to make their mark on the city, the creative design companyVisualhouse — specializing in 3D visualizations — has released a rendering of New York in 2030.This image shows the who s who of modern architecture — with buildings designed by Jean Nouvel,Rafael Vinoly, Bjarke Ingels Group, SOM, Foster Partners, and Kohn Pedersen Fox, just to name a few, said Visualhouse CEO and Founder, Rob Herrick. How these modern day masterpieces all fit together in the sky space, that will be the legacy for New Yorkers in 2030 and beyond. Some of these additions include Nordstrom Tower, which, when completed, will have the tallest roof in the United States; BIG s nearly complete VIA 57 WEST; 432 Park Avenue; and various projects around the newly developed Hudson Yards site, such as 30 and 35 Hudson Yards both by Kohn Pedersen Fox , 15 Hudson Yards by Diller Scofidio Renfro, and SOM s nearby office and residential complex, Manhattan West. While many of these projects have already begun construction, only time will tell if this hypothetical New York materializes, and we can only wonder what other surprises may be in store for one of the world s most recognized skylines.
The service launched a few months ago with Sky boasting that it will set your TV free .If you re already enjoying Sky s services it s pretty painless with just a small adjustment being made to your satellite dish and the shiny new Q boxes being unwrapped from their packaging. The new Sky Q Silver box can also record four programmes at once while you watch a fifth, which is certainly a big improvement over Sky s older system. Some may also find the touchpad a step too far and you ll certainly need to be patient with it especially when you're attempting to skip through the adds using the swipe control buttons. We have had a few minor glitches with the Q mini boxes not displaying content, which is not ideal, but this has been fixed by rebooting the main Sky Q Silver box.Foreground --- White Black Red Green Blue Yellow Magenta Cyan --- Opaque Semi-OpaqueBackground --- White Black Red Green Blue Yellow Magenta Cyan --- Opaque Semi-Transparent TransparentWindow --- White Black Red Green Blue Yellow Magenta Cyan --- Opaque Semi-Transparent TransparentFont Size 50% 75% 100% 125% 150% 175% 200% 300% 400%Text Edge Style None Raised Depressed Uniform DropshadowFont Family Default Monospace Serif Proportional Serif Monospace Sans-Serif Proportional Sans-Serif Casual Script Small CapsDefaults DoneTHE PRICEIf you were after a bargain look elsewhere.
The fireballs making surprise appearances in the sky have been happening in the U.S. lately though the ones that crop up in Russia are usually much more exciting , and the latest one happened this week. This fireball was very bright and moved fairly slow, making for some nice videos. The video below arguably shows it best, though it is from a surveillance camera at the Burlington International Airport, and so the video resolution is pretty low.The fireball appeared a bit before 1AM on May 17, with AMS saying most of the reports it received were from Maine. Here's a video from a police cruiser camera:AMS estimated the ground trajectory being in eastern Maine, but determines that based on the reports it gets. These two objects mean the meteor broke fairly significantly before making its way into the atmosphere.
