Microsoft has pushed out a pair of Windows 10 preview builds for the big update due later in 2019 (19H2), one of which has all the new features turned off – and those tweaks include some interesting moves, such as the promise of better battery life for laptops running certain processors.

So what exactly is happening here regarding the overall rollout?

Windows 10 19H2 testers in the slow ring are getting two different preview builds: 18362.10012 and 18362.10013, which will be delivered to those on 18362.10005 and 18362.10006 respectively.

The difference is that the former build has all the new features turned off by default, and the latter has them turned on.

This is Microsoft’s new system of a controlled preview rollout, whereby only a subsection of testers actually get the new features live, with more being shifted over as time progresses.

Essentially, it’s just like when the updates actually go live, for real, with Microsoft monitoring how the features are working (or not), getting more feedback on them, before pushing them more broadly.

Microsoft emitted two fresh builds for October's Windows 10 last night, although which one you'll get depends on your current build or, for new Insiders, a "virtual coin toss".

The company had previously warned that it would be shipping the updates that will become the 19H2 release with features turned off by default.

It could then test turning them on in a controlled manner.

Thus those cautious souls on the Slow Ring, currently prodding 19H2, will receive 18362.10012 with the new toys turned off if they are coming from 18362.10005.

Those on 18362.10006 will get 18362.10013, which has the features on.

Oh, and those in the 18362.10012 group will also have features from the previous release, such as they were, turned off as well.

Updated headline on 8/8 to reflect 1440p resolution

In the past, the video game console you bought at launch would have the same graphical capabilities for its entire lifespan, with only software-side updates potentially improving how games looked and ran.

It is no longer the past, however, as Merseille’s mClassic device is a plug-and-play graphics processor that promises to boost your consoles’ performance without modification.

The mClassic is designed to work with all of your consoles, including the Nintendo Switch and retro systems.

It touts built-in anti-aliasing, 4K upscaling, better depth of field, and sharper image quality.

Merseille says in its IndieGoGo campaign that the device only adds about 1ms of extra latency onto games when in use.

Qualcomm might be a contender in the mobile space, but Always Connected Windows laptops powered by Snapdragon 835 and 850 chips have seen mixed results.

Both Intel’s and Qualcomm’s chips combine CPU and GPU cores on a single die, so we’ll look at the performance of each segment of the chips individually and consider their cost and efficiency too.

That means it has eight cores to work with, four of which will be lower-power and operate when efficiency is more important than performance.

That may have been evidenced during a graphics test at Computex, which saw the Intel 8250U maintain a greater CPU score than the Snapdragon part, despite seemingly weaker performance in more productivity-focused tasks.

That’s a more than 20 percent uplift in performance for the Snapdragon SoC and equates to an FPS difference of 29 FPS for the Intel chip (at best), versus the Snapdragon’s 37 FPS.

One of the concerns with Microsoft’s “Always Connected” PC style is the lack of native applications for the Qualcomm hardware under the hood.

The wait for the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 is now over, as it is officially on sale as of Thursday, August 8.

In addition to bringing an encouraging refresh to Dell’s 2-in-1 product line in the form of a device with respectable performance, worthy of sharing a name with its flagship cousin, it notably marks the debut of the first of the long-awaited Intel 10th-generation processors.

Although challenges in production scaling have prevented Intel from staging a massive release of its 10th-generation CPUs, alternatively known by their “Ice Lake” moniker, Intel gave Dell the go-ahead to put them at the heart of its latest convertible laptop product, and the CPU seems to shine as far as hands-on testing so far has indicated.

Intel fans were understandably disappointed at the revelation that Ice Lake desktop chips will not land in consumer devices anytime soon, but the mobile Ice Lake chip that ships in the XPS 13 2-in-1 is proving to be no consolation prize.

In fact, leaks from a test of an Ice Lake i7 CPU running in an HP Spectre x360 laptop shows clear areas of strength over AMD’s powerhouse Ryzen 9 3900X chip, to say nothing of the kinds of hardware that the Ice Lake mobile series is more likely to face head-to-head via comparable consumer devices.

While the device has not been run through the gauntlet enough to confirm this impressive level of competitive performance outside the lab, it fares well enough to give something for consumers to look forward to in the more than 30 additional laptops with Ice Lake slated to arrive by this year’s holiday season.

Once third-party results confirmed AMD's outstanding benchmarks and retail delivery was a success, the big remaining question was: could the company extend its 7nm success story to mobile and server CPUs?

Yesterday, AMD formally launched its new line of Epyc 7002 "Rome" series CPUs—and it seems to have answered the server half of that question pretty thoroughly.

Rome offers far more CPU threads per socket than Intel's Xeon Scalable CPUs do.

While it's easy to complain that Intel CPUs have an unfair advantage in MKL-DNN benchmarks, it is representative of the kind of entrenched advantage Intel enjoys—and it's a real advantage.

On vendor-neutral and multithreading-friendly workloads such as x265 video and OpenSSL, the Rome CPUs significantly outperformed the Xeons across the board.

In the past, that sharp delta in cost efficiency has forced a project to seriously consider putting up with added machine count and more complex overall architecture.

High Risk Merchant Account LLC 2019-06-18

A high risk merchant account is an important account-type for a wide range of enterprises today as it allows businesses to receive payments in a variety of ways, typically through credit and debit card payments. When there is a loss on your account due to the inability of your company to financially support the sales volume that you applied for. Your application may be turned down even if you surpass chargeback thresholds. If you are on MATCH list or Terminated Merchant File (TMF) Other businesses that may be considered high risk include those that may delve into a new or untested industry, companies that sell to other countries different from their base, or a brand new business with no credit card processing history. Consumers simply make payments for products and services using a credit or debit card, so a business without credit card processing capabilities will suffer a lot of losses in the end. High Risk Merchant Account LLC (HRMA-LLC) All merchant accounts hold significant similarities, but they are not all the same, so it will be ideal to get the best possible deal for your business.

The foreign exchange is a vast market. On average, a turnover of over $5 trillion is traded in the market every day. When different currencies trade, a considerable impact is experienced in the cash flows, investments, and tradings of different countries. The selling of currencies attracts different participates. Banks, insurance companies, and individuals all seek a share of the liquid market. The interest is basically because of the high potential for high returns in foreign exchange markets. But with huge potential comes the high possibility of risks for the investors.

For years, forex trading companies have struggled to find reliable payment processing solutions for their business. They are always on the look for payment gateways that are safe and acceptable for their large transactions. With every minute proving crucial for all their debit and credit card payments, finding a reliable payment processor is of utmost importance.

Most payment processors have a great concern for the volatility of the forex market. Forex trading has a high potential for fraud. There is also the concern of significant losses in the case of substantial differences in the market margins.

As these merchant account providers struggle to adapt to changes in the forex market, traders are struggling to find the best forex payment processing solution for their business. They need to have a better understanding of both their businesses to succeed. Understanding the risks of forex trading is beneficial for productive cooperation between payment processing solutions and forex traders.

The Foreign Exchange Risk

The foreign exchange risk arises from the changes in the value of currencies. Since the forex market transacts with different national currencies, a change in the supply and demand always results in a shift. The massive variations occur in the appreciation or depreciation of the value of the outstanding transactions. Every foreign exchange shift is a risk to the investor, the international market, and businesses involved.

Because of the risks posed by forex tradings, most merchant account providers stay away from the trade. They avoid the risks of loss by choosing to operate with low-risk forex traders. A trader who transacts high values is deemed high risk. If the trader has an active contract with a processor, the processor takes precautionary measures by canceling the contract or withholding large sums for reserve accounts.

With the reserve, the high risk merchant account provider is confident of minimal losses. The forex credit card payment solutions require three types of reserves; the rolling reserve, up-front reserve, and fixed reserve account. The reserves, together with the best forex payment gateway, secure the forex trading companies from foreign exchange risks.

The Leverage risks

Some forex trading companies use borrowed funds to operate. They aim to increase profits by building up and controlling large transactions. As much as the funds are a potential for tremendous growth, they can also be the cause of the companies downfall. The forex market is volatile, and without good experience, a trader can lose as much as he gains.

A payment processor understands how much risk leverage is for the company. Before offering payment processing solutions, high risk payment processors consider the strength of financial records, the number of business years, expertise, chargebacks, and rates of fraud of a forex trading company. If the records and leverage are at a point of high risk, then applying for a merchant account becomes a struggle.

However, high risk payment processing solutions for forex trading specialize in the merchant account. They see the possibility of high returns and embrace the most high risk forex traders. For security purposes, the payment processors set transaction limits and follow up on the daily outcomes of forex tradings. They study market changes and are keen on when to allow leverage of up to 100:1 to its traders.

Interest Rate Risk

Forex trading companies borrow funds in exchange for interest to their borrowers. Since they are not in control of the interest rates market, a fluctuating change can affect the decision of most tradings in the market.

Central banks control interest rates according to the growth and stability of a country’s economy. Some of the decisions are predictable, while others are unexpected. For a forex trader, understanding how to predict the changes in interest rates can prevent losses. But for unforeseen changes due to political or sudden national announcements, high risk payment solutions can be applied.

Payment processors are aware of the effects of sudden interest changes actions. A payment processing solution for forex trading will set up a merchant account designed to deal with such eventualities. The charges are higher for high risk customers but the risks are worth the price. The opposite can be said for low-risk clients who receive lower prices for transactions with a forex payment processing solution.

Operational Risks

The operating systems, internal processes, and individuals involved in running the company are a major risk to forex trades. It is through a company’s’ operations that fraud and chargebacks occur. For example, miscommunication with a trader can lead to loss of money. If after the loss the trader chooses to recover the money, they will dispute the transaction by issuing a chargeback.

Chargebacks, if received in high volume, are a significant challenge for forex trading companies. Every chargeback implies a refund, or money returned to the customer for unsatisfactory services. If not well managed, chargebacks can put the forex trading company out of business.

Forex merchant account providers understand the risks of chargebacks. Before offering payment processing solutions for forex accounts, they review the chargeback history to determine the level of risk. If the chances are high, payment processors charge higher as insurance for expected losses.

A payment provider that is not equipped to deal with high risk merchants will avoid credit card processing with high-risk trading companies. They will consider the risks of fraudulent activities and opt for safety in low-risk customers. For some of these companies, their operating system is not designed to detect the slightest of suspicious activities. Due to the challenges of the operating systems, the forex trading companies avoid the risk of offering credit processing solutions.

What To Do

Research about the categories of risky businesses. A forex trading company needs to understand if they are a low, medium, or high risk merchant. Their judgment on the risk category may not be final, but it will prepare them for eventualities when they finally apply for a forex merchant account.

If a trader falls under the high risk forex trading merchant, they need not worry. Researching on the expected rates of service can help budget on costs. The rates for high risk clients are known to be higher, but with proper planning, the prices are manageable. Forex trading companies should educate themselves on the pros and cons of payment processing solutions. They need a personal understanding of the benefits of reserve accounts and offshore merchant accounts.

To top it up, they need to be honest about the kind of business that requires a payment processing solution for forex trading. It might be tempting to lie about your transaction history and business endeavors. But since merchant providers have the expertise to run high risk forex merchant accounts, the truth will finally reveal. Protecting the forex trading company from account freezes should be of utmost importance to every trader. By delivering correct information, the forex trading company will prevent the freezing of their accounts.

Getting a payment gateway is essential for the convenience and reliability of forex trading services. Payment gateways are a fast way to complete forex trading payments. Since forex traders transact with multiple currencies, the best payment gateways give a secure means of completing transactions. Payment gateways are a useful tool for payment processing solutions when negotiating with various payment methods.

Conclusion

Forex trading companies indeed struggle for payment processing solutions. Operating a forex account is no simple feat. If you are looking for credit card processing solutions, and you are a high risk forex trading company, the struggle could be more. Payment processing solutions for forex trading are those that understand the risks of the trade. The answers should involve a payment gateway that is secure for forex traders.

Since the lack of regulation is a significant concern, a reliable payment processing solution for forex trading should address the issue. Payment processors need to understand the problems concerning licenses, fraud, money laundering, and underwritings in the forex market. With vast expertise, processors can resolve and give advice where necessary.

That brings us to the latest update for storied, accuracy-obsessed SNES emulator bsnes, which adds the ability to overclock the virtual SNES processor.

While bsnes is far from the first SNES emulator to allow for simulated overclocking, it does seem to be the first that does so "without any framerate or pitch distortion, and without harming compatibility in 99% of games," as bsnes programmer byuu puts it.

But in some in-game situations, when the screen got too full of moving sprites, the processor could fail to create the next frame within the 16.66 ms window, leading to noticeable display lag.

Today's beefy PCs can of course simulate the SNES' RICO RA22 CPU at a rate much faster than its original 3.58MHz.

But because the system's games were designed with that particular clock rate in mind, that kind of overclocking has a tendency to speed up the video and audio, too, which can in turn make the games difficult or impossible to play (or even run, in some cases).

To fix this side effect, byuu borrowed a technique from elsewhere in the emulation community.

Intel Ice lake 10 nanometer processors have just been launched, and the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 (2019) is one of the first laptops to benefit from Intel's new tech.

This is exciting news, as the Dell XPS 13 is – in our opinion – the best laptop in the world right now, so now that the 2-in-1 version has been upgraded with the latest 10nm Intel Ice Lake processors, it means the best laptop has just got better.

The new processors will bring a significant power boost to the XPS 13 2-in-1.

Intel’s Ice Lake processors feature a smaller and more efficient 10nm Sunny Cove architecture, Intel claims a 2x performance boost.

The new CPUs also feature Intel’s next-generation Gen11 graphics, which gives the XPS 13 a noticeable upgrade when it comes to graphics performance as well.

What’s perhaps most impressive is that the Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 uses the full U-series of Ice Lake processors.

Now that AMD Zen 2 processors have hit both the mainstream market and enterprise with Ryzen 3rd Generation and 2nd-generation Epyc processors, respectively, it's time once more to look to the future.

And, it looks like AMD has finished the design phase for its Zen 3 CPU architecture.

This news comes out of its reveal event for 2nd-generation Epyc processors, where AMD showed a slide indicating that the Zen 3 architecture design is complete, and even labeled the more-distant Zen 4 architecture as "in design".

This doesn't mean that AMD Ryzen 4th Generation processors are right around the corner, but it does mean that AMD isn't taking their recent victories as permission to slow down.

AMD Zen 3 will likely be based on a 7nm+ process, much like AMD Zen+ after it followed the original Zen architecture with a 12nm+ manufacturing process.

That means we can expect higher clock speeds paired with lower power consumption.

Samsung laptops don’t have much prestige in my book.

Despite the gains the company has made on the mobile front, its laptops have always underwhelmed me over the years.

The new Galaxy Book S, though?

It’s just another clamshell laptop that could be mistaken for a Surface Laptop or MacBook Air if you didn’t know better.

It has a full-size keyboard, a spacious touchpad, and insanely long battery life (23 hours, as claimed by Samsung).

But the real reason I’m interested in the Galaxy Book S goes beyond just what your fingers can touch.
