While there’s been a reduced amount of new dramas airing in the last few months thanks to the pandemic throwing the TV industry into turmoil, the arrival of autumn has brought with it the shows bosses have been saving up. One of the first to debut during this new season of telly is Us, which arrives on BBC One at the weekend.Described as a “rom-com in reverse”, it is perfect for those looking for something a little less intense than cop shows or physiological thrillers, but still want something that packs an emotional punch. Here’s everything we can tell you about it...Us is based on David Nicholls’ novelTo many people, David Nicholls is best known as the author behind, One Day –the smash hit novel that spawned a film of the same name starring Anne Hathaway. Us served as his follow-up novel, coming five years later in 2014. Like its predecessor, it proved to be hugely popular with readers and critics alike, with one review in the Independent describing it as “a perfect book”. It was also long-listed for the 2014 Man Booker Prize and David won the Specsavers UK Author of the Year award. So what is it about?Well, as David put it in a press introduction for the series, if One Day “was about the beginnings of a relationship – will they, won’t they get together? – Us asked’ ‘what comes next?’”.It follows the story of the Petersen family, who are rocked when wife Connie tells husband Douglas that she’s not sure she wants to be married to him any more. As he vows to prove to his wife that he is still the man she fell in love with and to repair his troubled relationship, Douglas insists that they go ahead with a planned family tour of Europe – originally intended as a holiday to mark their son Albie’s last summer before university. But will the pair be able to reconcile their relationship, or will the family have to come to terms with a life apart? The action is also intercut with flashbacks of Douglas and Connie’s love story and the early days of their relationship, revealing how they fell in love and how things have changed in the years that followed.Describing the emotion of the series, David says: “It’s about regret and loss and the spectre of loneliness but I hope we’ve made something funny and uplifting too, something emotional and affecting that will have viewers recognising themselves and those around them, as one of ‘Us’.”It is set in some incredible locationsMuch like how the stunning European locations became an important part of fellow BBC drama Killing Eve, Us will also showcase the beauty of the continent. The crew filmed last year in London, Amsterdam, Venice, Barcelona and Paris and David says the series is supposed to be a “love letter to Europe”. “I hope we’ve captured that on screen,” he adds. Tom Hollander and Saskia Reeves head up the castTom Hollander (The Night Manager, Baptiste, Gosford Park) plays Douglas, who is a scientist. Tom describes his character as “quite a grumpy dad” to son Albie, who gets on better with his mother, and Douglas lives with the idea that his wife Connie prefers their son to him. He is devastated when Connie tells him she is falling out of love with him, as he is a man who “doesn’t want to be left”, according to Tom.Saskia Reeves (Wallander, The Child In Time, Luther) plays Connie, who is preemptively experiencing empty nest syndrome, terrified of the gaping hole that only child Albie is going to leave when he heads to university. Saskia describes Connie as having “completely settled for a life that she never ultimately wanted” as she gave up her dreams of becoming an artist and “took refuge in Douglas’ absolute undying love for her” – a situation she begins to reassess when their family’s dynamic is about to change. Tom Taylor – best known for playing Gemma and Simon Foster’s son Tom in Doctor Foster – plays Albie, an artistic, musical, creative and complicated teenager, who is about to set out on the next chapter of his life. “He doesn’t particularly want to go on holiday with his parents and feels he has been dragged into it – so tries to ditch them,” Tom says. But Albie will go on a journey of his own as he deals with the situation between his mother and father. Gina Bramhill (Being Human, Black Mirror) and Iain De Caestecker (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Lip Service) appear as a young Connie and Douglas in flashback scenes, while Thaddea Graham (Curfew, The Letter For The King) appears as a character called Kat, and Sofie Gråbøl (The Killing, Gentleman Jack) plays Freja. Why should I watch it?While the premise of the story might initially seem quite downbeat, Tom Hollander promises it has a “particular humour to it, which is in David’s writing”, with Tom Taylor adding there is plenty of “light hearted comedy” in what he describes as “a really fun drama”. “It’s not a story without hope, it is a story about hope,” Tom Hollander adds. He also says the story will likely “speak to parents of a certain age, those who have children who might be about to fly the nest or go to college”. Gina also says it will likely make you feel “terribly nostalgic for a different time, pre-covid!” She noted: “All of those wonderful locations and the freedom we had – I hope an audience can be uplifted and transported; not only back to the 90s, but also to the not-so-distant past, to be able to escape and enjoy this story of two people’s love and loss and growth.”Watch the trailer When is it on?Us begins on Sunday at 9pm on BBC One, continuing each week. READ MORE: 29 TV Picks Coming Later In 2020 That Will Help Staying In Feel More Bearable 21 Times Katherine Ryan's Character In The Duchess Was Almost Too Relatable The Sex Education Cast Could Not Be More Excited To Return To Work As Series 3 Gets Underway

Jamina Bone has always been good with kids. She loved babysitting and being a nanny so much, she decided to get a degree in special education to continue to work with kids. When she had her first baby, she took to motherhood quickly. But after giving birth to her second daughter, the US-based mum said that, more often than not, she felt more hopeless than happy. Sure, she was dealing with the death of her mother-in-law, but her pain felt specific to taking care of her new daughter. “With my second child I would cringe when she cried, it took too long for my milk to come in, and I just didn’t want to be there,” she said. “I often felt my baby took me away from my first daughter. I envisioned myself sinking into my bed and disappearing so that nobody could need me.”After months of feeling “exhausted and irritable” and yelling “out of rage,” Bone talked to her midwife, who suggested she may have postpartum depression (PPD). “What makes me angry is that I made excuse after excuse for why I was struggling,” she said. “I got knocked down. Like receiving physical and occupational therapy after an injury, I had to relearn everything. I can see this now, but back then I felt like a failure. I felt ungrateful, selfish, and definitely not good enough.”In the thick of her depression, Bone said drawing helped her feel more like herself. Now, through a series she calls “Still A Good Mum,” Bone said she hopes her artwork can inspire other new moms to hang in there, especially if they’re dealing with PPD.“When I was going through PPD, I felt isolated, embarrassed and didn’t want to bring anyone down, so I never talked about it,” she said. “Drawing was a way for me to talk about it.”As many as 50% to 75% of new mothers experience the “baby blues” after delivery, according to the Cleveland Clinic. Up to 15% of these women will develop a more severe and longer-lasting depression ― postpartum depression ― after delivery. In her series, Bone explores how much of a struggle it is for new mums with PPD to balance their expectations of motherhood with its reality. In other drawings, Bone chides other mums and women who judge:“All these drawings came from reminding myself and my community that we are doing our best and that means something,” said Bone, who also recently collaborated with writer Blake Nolan for a baby board book titled “I Love My Happy Mama.” View this post on InstagramA post shared by Jamina Bone Illustrations (@mommingwithtruth) on Feb 3, 2019 at 9:56am PSTBone said she hopes her work serves as a reminder that motherhood ― in all its glory and in all its hardships ― isn’t something you have to go it alone.“Reach out to other mamas who get it ― feel free to message me! ― and know you are not alone,” she said. “If you’re struggling with PPD, know that you are enough, and you will find yourself again.”Scroll down for more of Bone’s “Still a Good Mum” series and visit her site for more of her drawings.  Jamina BoneJamina BoneJamina BoneJamina BoneJamina BoneJamina BoneJamina BoneJamina BoneJamina BoneJamina BoneAlso on HuffPost

As Tracy Beaker is set to return back to our screens soon, it felt only right to go down memory lane and look back at one of the most iconic kids’ TV series of the 2000s. The Story Of Tracy Beaker introduced us to the brutal but uplifting world of the children’s care home The Dumping Ground, previously featured in Jacqueline Wilson’s popular books. In the 15 years since the last episode of The Story Of Tracy Beaker, the doors of The Dumping Ground have reopened a few times, in successful spin-off shows like Tracy Beaker Returns and The Tracy Beaker Survival Files. Narrative essays are creative essays that tell stories. Most students who are assigned a task on narrative essays are told to write about  their personal experiences. This in turn helps to build curiosity in readers. The Thesis Should Be Argumentative-  Since the thesis is a statement that mentions what is being talked about in the narrative essay it should be arguable. It should be written in a way that students can visualize and be able to recreate the facts that are narrated through their imagination.Students writing the narrative essay must prepare a draft sketch of the characters before they start writing their thoughts on the paper.

I am that person who will tell everybody everything. I can’t help it. My day is not complete without a random encounter with a stranger, usually the person sat next to me on public transport, that starts with light chat before turning into deep conversation about love, life and all the things in-between. Talking helps my mental health, not to mention my commute, and it helps me feel understood, brave, and gives me a sense of belonging. I remember once being on the train to Finsbury Park, torn between ending a relationship or hanging on, when I decided to ask the lady sitting opposite me how you know when you’ve met the right person. She looked surprised, but gave me a familiar smile and asked: ‘’What does your gut say?’’ My eyes lit up.For the rest of the journey she told me about her previous relationships – the ones where she didn’t listen to her gut and paid a heavy price. When she got off, I waved, and she mouthed through the window ‘’do what makes you happy’’.Such simple, potent advice from someone I would never see again. It wasn’t rocket science, but I felt understood. Safe to say, after that conversation, I called things off with him.I miss having a long conversation with people in the supermarkets about how the four-pack of bananas have gone up in price since last week.Growing up, I remember being taught about stranger danger, and not to talk to people I didn’t know. That is perfect advice for little children, but I think it’s bad advice for us adults.According to research, having a conversation with a stranger may leave you happier than you think; and it turns out these seemingly trivial encounters with minor characters in our lives, from the random guy at the dog park to the barista at our local coffee shop, can affect our happiness and sense of human connection on a typical day. It was only when lockdown began it was then how much I realised these tiny interactions with strangers were important to the quality of my life. I miss having a long conversation with people in the supermarkets about how the four-pack of bananas have gone up in price since last week. I miss exchanging giggles with someone on the tube as I chase my suitcase wheeling itself all the way to the end of the carriage. I miss asking the barista to decide what to make for me because I’m an indecisive Aquarius – and I miss getting into a conversation about why on earth these horoscope apps are so damn accurate and triggering before we laugh and exchange goodbyes, knowing that we might not meet again. So why don’t we speak more often with strangers? Let’s be honest, most of us are worried about saying something stupid, or talking too much, or over spilling. And then there’s the worry they might even shut us down – the very same fear of rejection that stops us going after all the daring things we want in life. That’s exactly why I believe talking to strangers matters so much. It invites people to challenge our belief system, question everything we think we know about the world around us. It encourages us to be the best versions of ourselves too – allowing only people we know to interact with us shields us from criticism. When we actively choose to avoid and ignore people that are not like us, it is frankly far more damaging than any discomfort that will come from engaging in a conversation. Being uncomfortable, in my experience, is good for you – how do we grow as individuals and enjoy the best that life has to offer if we always play it safe? Breaking out of our comfort zone allows you to expand your world and unfold new possibilities. Now more than ever I think it’s important we get past our reluctance to engage with people we don’t know. These days, strangers feel like even more of a threat. Because we are living in a pandemic and we are meant to keep six feet away, it’s hard to start small talk with strangers. Some people may go so far as to cross the road altogether to avoid being near you. That’s reasonable in the current climate, but now more than ever I think it’s important we get past our reluctance to engage with people we don’t know. These shared human experiences bring us closer together. And in these uncertain times, talking to people we don’t know can help us all feel connected Complimenting someone, smiling, or striking up a conversation may not completely change the course of our lives, but engaging in conversation may bring a sprinkle of day-to-day positivity not to just their life, but to your life too.Isn’t the whole idea of us being here is that we leave the world and the people we share moments with better than we found them? So go on then,  I double dare you, have a chat with a stranger today and tell me you won’t feel better because of it, and one thing worth remembering is people will always forget what you said, but they will never forget how you made them feel, and if you ask me? That’s a job bloody well done. Jackie Adedeji is a writer, presenter, and host of the Jackie Big Tits podcastHave a compelling personal story you want to tell?
