The state oil marketing companies (OMCs) have increased the price of petrol and diesel for the second consecutive day today, October 15, after a two days gap.With this, fuel rates have touched record high levels across the country on the occasion of Dussehra 2021.

The pause on the prices on October 12 and 13 came after a seven-day consecutive rise.According to reports, the petrol rates were hiked by 34-35 paise while diesel has become costlier by 35-37 paise.

According to reports, Two Ticket Checkers (TC) had physically assaulted a commuter at Andheri Railway Station for travelling by train when not fully vaccinated.

Now, as a punishment, Western Railway authorities have transferred them to a Control Room.

WR has initiated an investigation after recording the statement of the victim identified as Pratik Sen.Learn Also: Maharashtra Cabinet Clears Rs 3,200cr For Konkan Disaster Management ProgrammeThe authorities had said that they would take action against them for harassing and extorting money.While talking to the media, Western Railway Chief PRO said that they sacked both the TC from their job and transferred them to the control room.

He further said that after the investigation is complete, they will take necessary action against them.Both the TCs used to work as Senior Examiners at the Andheri station and the victim is a ground staff at the Mumbai International Airport.The victim said that the TCs were standing on the platform with two constables.

They were harassing people over-vaccination.After Sen's accusation, while talking to the media, one of the TC denied assaulting Sen.

He said they asked Sen to show his railway and travel universal pass.

PM Modi addressed the nation on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, and said this decision to extend the lockdown in India was taken after considering suggestions from all the Chief Ministers.

On April 14, 2020, PM Narendra Modi addressed the nation and shared the updates about the coronavirus outbreak in India.

There is good news for monorail passengers in Mumbai.

According to reports, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is all set to procure 10 more rakes for its monorail project.

With this, it is expected to improve the frequency of trains as well as the ridership, which is the lowest in Mumbai’s public transport system.The first rake of the train is likely to come within a year.

All the rakes will be made in India.

The project is considered to cost more than the income.

On Tuesday evening, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) issued guidelines for Ganesh Utsav this year.

It has tightened the rules for Ganesh pandals this year due to the ongoing pandemic and COVID-19 third wave that is likely to hit by October.Read also: COVID-19 Vaccination: BMC Releases List of over 300 Centers Administering Only Second Dose TodayAccording to the new guidelines, no mandals should allow physical darshan.

However, BMC has allowed 10 members in sarvajanik mandals who will be permitted to become a part of arrival and immersion of the idol which has to be without procession, provided they are fully vaccinated.The 10 fully vaccinated members who will be allowed should have completed 15 days after the second dose and for household idols; similar guidelines will be applied wherein five members should have completed 15 days after the second dose.

Only then they will be allowed to be a part of arrival and visarjan.Further, restrictions have been imposed for citizens and for members of the Ganeshotsav mandals with regards to entering the water during visarjan.

Along with them, senior citizens and children are not to be allowed in the place of immersion.

In total there are 743 natural immersion sites in the city.According to the media reports, an advisory that was released by the BMC has stated, “The immersion of the idols of the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandals in the containment zones should be done in pandals or it should be postponed.

PM Modi May Extend COVID-19 Lockdown For Few More Weeks As Per Suggestions Given By MinistersAfter a high level meeting was held with the Group of Ministers (GoM), officials may extend coronavirus lockdown for 2 weeks, until the end of April.

Further, religious centres,shopping malls and educational institutions may be closed until May 15, 2020.In a meeting held on Tuesday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a group of ministers have recommended that owing to the current siuation of COVID19 outbreak, all educational institutions, religious activities, public participation should not be allowed until May 15, 2020.

The team suggested that this move needs to be taken irrespective of the decision of extending the current 21-day lockdown period.

On Tuesday, September 28, the water level in seven lakes of Mumbai crossed 99.07 per cent.These seven lakes supply drinking water to Mumbai.

These lakes and reservoirs are Tulsi, Tansa, Vihar, Bhatsa, Modak Sagar, Upper Vaitarna, and Middle Vaitarna.Read More: Maharashtra: IAF Helicopter Rescues 3 People Stranded In LaturBrihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has shared data that reveals the seven lakes have 14,33,198 million litres of water or 99.07 per cent on Tuesday.

This is against the total capacity, which is around 14.47 lakh million litres.Water stock was at 99.12 per cent around the same time last year.

In 2019, the water stock was 98.81 per cent.Tansa and Modak Sagar are the two primary sources of supplying potable water to Mumbai.

A civic official said that both of them started to overflow on July 22nd.Vihar and Tulsi lake started to overflow on July 18th and 16th, respectively.

Five gates of Bhatsa lake were reportedly opened on September 11.

Preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi in Mumbai have begun, considering that the festival is a few months away.

Amidst the backdrop of coronavirus, the state government had issued a set of guidelines on how the festival will be celebrated this year.

Apart from restricting the height of the idol in the public arena to 4 feet, constraints have also been brought in for celebrations at home.

Idols at home cannot be taller than 2 feet.

In Mumbai, the Western Railways is looking to increase AC coaches for local train services, stated a report by the ANI.A survey was carried out amongst the local train travellers of the Mumbai suburban train network to understand their predilection for an alteration in the Local Train Services.Alok Bansal, General Manager of the Western Railway in his conversation with the ANI elaborated that the survey included 20 questions and based on the responses, 70% of the travellers urged the railway authorities to surge the number of AC locals.

He added that the authority is working towards adding more AC local trains and are in regular conversation with the state government’s Mumbai urban transport project (MUTP) and the Union government’s Mumbai Rail Vikas Corporation (MRVC).He elucidated on how the local trains are the lifeline of the city and over time, travellers seek better facilities as well as amenities in their local train travel.

Due to these reasons, he believes that the majority of the people who contributed to the survey sought an increase in local AC train services.He also spoke about the future of non-AC local trains saying that currently, non-AC services will be available as well in some magnitude in all local trains.

He added that soon more AC locals will be started and in the future, the majority of the trains will be those with AC services.Bansal also mentioned that they are considering including hybrid local trains wherein AC and non-AC coaches will be present in one train and that in the future it can be anticipated that all locals will have such a model with a feasibility test been undertaken for the same.

Waking up to the dilemma of whether to get dressed or text:There have been mornings when you would switch to the news at 6 am and calculating mentally if it is safe to go to work today or not.

Texting “Is it raining in ?”This year, we didn’t send this text simply because most of us are either working from home or not at all.
