Most of the places you might go to find a list of datasets online take a very hands-off approach to vetting.Someone creates a list or a database, and random people from the Internet submit links to data.We experienced frustration with this lack of vetting firsthand while training models for the Model Asset eXchange — DAX’s sister site on developer.ibm.com with state-of-the-art deep learning models. One of the main functions of our organization is to help ensure that the code governance and quality of these open-source AI software components is up to IBM’s standards. We wanted to bring the same level of quality to the open source data that you run through this open source software.Every dataset in DAX is shepherded by a member of our team and reviewed by multiple other people within IBM.

Cast iron is one of the best conductors and even distributors of heat, meaning you're more likely to nail a perfectly even sear or consistently cooked stew (depending on what you're making).Cast Iron is also incredibly durable; it takes a lickin' and keeps on cookin' (unlike non-stick or copper) which is why some people keep their favorite cast iron around longer than a spouse.Speaking of longevity, cast iron just gets better with age and when properly seasoned, cared for and used, cast iron builds up a natural seasoning itself which then seasons anything that goes in or on it.Cast Iron be pricey but right now a whole mess of quality cast iron cookware is on sale at Amazon. From cast iron skillets -- a kitchen tool you could easily use every day -- to cast iron Dutch ovens, griddles, and more.If you're not familiar with their wares, Lodge is a well-respected legacy cookware brand that's been specializing in quality Cast Iron for over 100 years.

After a launch that was a non-starter for smartphone behemoth Samsung, the company says it has now made a series of fixes to its $1,980 Galaxy Fold and will make the folding phone available to consumers in the fall.Early users had noted that the display’s very top layer looked like the protective adhesive commonly applied to new smartphones, and had even attempted to peel it off.Samsung has now extended that protective layer—which is part of the actual display—so that it’s “an integral part of the display structure.”The hinge area, which Samsung had been particularly proud of in early briefings, is said to be strengthened.Samsung says it has redesigned the phone with “additional metal layers underneath the Infinity Flex Display” in order to “reinforce the protection” of the bendy OLED display. In other words, Samsung hasn’t completely redesigned the phone, which had been in the works for years; but has added layers of redundancy and protection in places where it thinks the phone may have been vulnerable.

Apple naturally has its own smart home and wireless communication ecosystems and, unsurprisingly, it’s a very exclusive club. Not just any manufacturer can invite themselves in and support Apple’s technologies. No wonder, then, that LG is quite proud of the fact that it is the first TV maker to have support not just for AirPlay 2 but even for HomeKit itself, delivering compatibility with Apple devices for owners of its 2019 AI TVs.With AirPlay 2 report, LG’s brand new TVs will able to watch content coming from iPhones, iPads, and even Macs wirelessly. That includes even videos with Dolby Vision, which the AI TVs also support.Of course, it’s a perfect setup for Apple TV owners and it’s not limited to videos either.

Sometime in the three years before he murdered nine people at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in the US state of South Carolina, Dylann Roof sat down at his computer and typed “black on White crime” into Google. In the weeks leading up to the church attack, the site that inspired Roof featured story after story portraying blacks as uniquely dangerous threats—a “racial spree shooting in Texas,” dozens killed in a single weekend in Chicago, and Jay-Z allegedly “funding violent protests in Baltimore and Ferguson.”Four years later, the Council of Conservative Citizens’ website is still online, pumping out stories about “black serial murderers.” Those pieces are now slotted between odes to nationalist politicians like Nigel Farage, advertisements for a white supremacist conference at a state park in Tennessee, and a widget tracking the progress of a crowdfunding campaign to help build Donald Trump’s border wall.America is a country without hate speech laws, one built on the premise that’s it not the government’s job to decide what types of speech should be prohibited. While social media giants have received the brunt of the attention for providing a platform to hate groups, firms that enable more basic kinds of services to these deeply controversial groups appear to have largely abdicated that responsibility—or rejected the notion that refusing to do business with certain groups is the right thing to do.Most either did not respond or gave brief statements that they were looking at the sites we highlighted but declined to go into depth about their policies or their relationships with specific sites.

The goal is to find the combination to a safe and wield a WWE style championship belt. The game is one of many "activations" set up by big brands at Comic-Con -- corporate speak for what's basically an elaborate ad that lets conference goers experience elements of shows or movies in real life.Amazon set up a politically-tinged activation for its new show Carnival Row, which touches on racism and segregation, and AMC created a zombie apocalypse for The Walking Dead. You're first led to a briefing room where an actor playing an officer basically acts as a warm up comedian interacting with guests. The guests are then shown a pre-recorded video starring cast regulars: Samberg, who plays Jake Peralta, Terry Crews, who plays Terry Jeffords, and Joe Lo Truglio, who plays Charles Boyle.Samberg and Truglio are both dressed Comic Con appropriate, with Samberg in Game of Thrones garb, and Truglio as Detective Pikachu.

When news appeared in May of the security vulnerability in Windows that would come to be known as BlueKeep, security researchers almost immediately cautioned that the flaw looked like the central ingredient for a destructive worm sure to rampage through the internet.Microsoft issued a series of stark warnings to patch the flaw, which persisted in roughly a million computers."I would bet money that it's already being exploited quietly," says Marcus Hutchins, a malware researcher for security firm Kryptos Logic who has privately coded a working BlueKeep exploitation proof-of-concept.Like others who have tested the bug, Hutchins hasn't released his code for fear of enabling malicious use.Security researcher Rob Graham, the founder of Errata Security, found 730,000 unpatched machines in his own scans, down from his May count of just over 920,000.But in other industries like education, government, utilities and tech firms comprise close to five percent of exposed machines.

After the 2019 updates to the MacBook Pro — including a big one for the entry-level model in July — and the launch of Apple’s MacBook Air in 2018, an important question to answer is how the two devices stack up against each other.Though they both boast Retina displays and similar keyboards, and even fall in a similar price range, there are some significant differences in specs and features that differentiate the two devices. The 13-inch MacBook Air and 13-inch MacBook Pro share an all-aluminum finish, with both offering space gray and silver color options, although the new Air also comes in gold.Though similar on that front, the brightness levels between the two laptops couldn’t be more different. We didn’t like the display on the MacBook Air and found that it doesn’t get as bright or impressive as the MacBook Pro’s.The 2018 Air only manages a total brightness of 291 nits, which lags significantly behind the MacBook Pro’s 500 nits.

How the Sun and a delayed Space Shuttle led to the crash landing of Skylab in Oz40 years ago today, nearly 10 years after Neil Armstrong plonked a boot on the Moon, another bit of Apollo leftovers came screaming back to Earth: the Skylab space station.Three crews stayed in 1973 and 1974, conducting solar observations, fixing issues and dealing with the challenges of long-duration spaceflight. The final crew, commanded by Gerald Carr, nudged the station into an orbit of between 433 and 455km (269 to 283 miles) using the Apollo CSM thrusters before returning to Earth and leaving Skylab to its own devices. As is customary for the US Space Program, a follow-up to the space station was cancelled (and later converted to Skylab 1 spec with a hole cut in the side for display in a museum.)The rapid retreat from Apollo meant that NASA soon lost the ability to revisit Skylab even if it had the budget to do so, and engineers began laying out plans to send the Shuttle to rendezvous with the station and send it to a higher orbit.

Facebook’s new digital currency Libra has received an early jolt from the Indian government. The authorities in Asia’s third-largest economy are no more keen on the social media giant’s project than any cryptocurrency that came before it.“Design of the Facebook currency has not been fully explained,” India’s Economic Affairs Secretary Subhash Garg told Bloomberg on Saturday.“But whatever it is, it would be a private cryptocurrency and that’s not something we have been comfortable with.”A virtual ban on cryptocurrency trading came into effect in India in April 2018 when the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) issued a notice to Indian banks asking them to stop dealing with any cryptocurrency businesses. The Supreme Court of India endorsed the ban in an interim order in July that year.

New York, NY--July 3, 2019--The emerging field of synthetic biology--designing new biological components and systems--is revolutionizing medicine.Through the genetic programming of living cells, researchers are creating engineered systems that intelligently sense and respond to diverse environments, leading to more specific and effective solutions in comparison to current molecular-based therapeutics. At the same time, cancer immunotherapy--using the body's immune defenses to fight cancer--has transformed cancer treatment over the past decade, but only a handful of solid tumors have responded, and systemic therapy often results in significant side effects.Designing therapies that can induce a potent, anti-tumor immune response within a solid tumor without triggering systemic toxicity has posed a significant challenge. The study was led in collaboration with Nicholas Arpaia, assistant professor of microbiology & immunology at CUIMC, and co-senior author on the publication. The team combined their expertise in synthetic biology and immunology to engineer a strain of bacteria able to grow and multiply in the necrotic core of tumors.
