We are only a week away from the offical presentation of the new Black Shark 2 Pro.But new rumors are coming up about the design of the next gaming smartphone from the Chinese company.Although we cannot yet speak of complete rendering, a teaser recently released by the official Weibo account, anticipates some elements of the back, which are in common with those of Black Shark 2.Black Shark 2 Pro teaserThe alternation of black and green colors should be the protagonist of the rear bodywork and the lines reflect those of the current model. The green vertical bars that run through the image suggest a possible repositioning of the LED lighting system.

The newest Schiit shipment came in a plain brown shipping carton, but its insides were anything but ordinary: The Schiit Ragnarok 2 stereo integrated amplifier looks, feels and sounds like no other amp.Meanwhile, the Ragnarok 2's ultra high power headphone amp delivers up to 24 watts for 32 ohm headphones, but can also safely work with high sensitivity in-ear headphones that play happily with just tiny fractions of a watt. The fully loaded Ragnarok 2 has two pairs of XLR inputs, along with two RCA inputs (one moving-magnet phono input, one line level) and one USB digital input. Both versions of the amp have stereo RCA and XLR preamp outputs that can be hooked up to a subwoofer or separate amplifier (more on that later). The original Ragnarok didn't come with a remote control -- the new one has a spiffy, small easy-to handle aluminum one that controls volume, input selection, gain level and mute.I first auditioned the Ragnarok 2 with a Schiit Yggdrasil 2 digital converter while alternating between two sets of speakers, KEF LS50 stand mount monitors and large Klipsch Forte III speakers.

Bikesharing is more popular than ever thanks to the combination of low prices and wide availability.Google is making it easier to find these bikesharing options using Google Maps, which now supports showing bikesharing stations and availability in a total of 24 cities across 16 countries. The feature was previously available in New York City.Bikesharing is exactly what it sounds like: a way for tourists and residents to quickly get around a city at a lower cost and size than traditional cars, but with the on-demand convenience not offered by public transportation options.Instead of using multiple apps, Google makes it possible to find available bikes in a number of cities using its navigation app. With this feature, Google Maps users in supported cities can view the location of the nearest bikesharing station, as well as which bicycles are currently available to rent.

When the Emmy nominations were announced last year, Netflix had a big win, overtaking HBO for the first time. But this year, HBO is back in the lead, with 137 nominations compared to Netflix’s 117.The Hollywood Reporter has tallied up the just-announced nominations, with Amazon Prime Video getting 47 nods and Hulu receiving 20.HBO, meanwhile, didn’t just beat Netflix — it also beat its own record for most nominations in a single year. That’s good news for WarnerMedia, which is hoping that HBO branding can help its upcoming streaming service stand out from the crowd. That said, its most-nominated show is one that just ended — “Game of Thrones,” which received 32 nominations, making it the most-nominated show of the year, and setting the record for the most nominations that any show has received for a single year.

We’re less than two months out from our first TC Sessions: Enterprise event, which is happening in San Francisco on September 5, and did you know our buy 1 get 1 free sale ends today too!Among the many enterprise and startup executives that’ll join us for the event is Qualtrics’ Julie Larson-Green.If that name sounds familiar to you, that’s most likely because you remember her from her 25 years at Microsoft. After a successful career in Redmond, Larson-Green left Microsoft in 2017 to become the Chief Experience Officer at SAP’s Qualtrics. In that role, she’s perfect for our panel about — you guessed it — customer experience management.Larson-Green joined Microsoft as a program manager for Visual C++ back in 1993.

Ubisoft is taking action against players who are using Assassin’s Creed Odyssey’s Story Creator mode to exploit the game’s character levelling system.Announced at E3 2019 and released shortly after, the Story Creator Mode is supposed to allow players to make their own quests for the game and then share them with other players. It’s been found, perhaps unsurprisingly, that some players have been gaming the system by creating easy quests which make it possible to farm a lot of XP and level up significantly faster, instead of purchasing the XP boosters from the in-game store. In a post on the Ubisoft forums, the publisher has explained how it will be tackling the problem.According to Ubisoft “these exploits risk jeopardizing the overall quality, integrity, and purpose of Story Creator Mode and results in less visibility for the creative, interesting and frankly fantastic community stories that have been published.”Now, existing XP farming quests won’t appear in any of the automatic recommendation lists such as the Hall of Fame or Trending and any quests which are reported for farming will be hidden.

The US telecoms regulator has decided to redirect the 2.5 GHz band away from its current educational use to create more 5G spectrum. The Federal Communications Commission is positioning this as a move to modernize the outdated regulatory framework for the 2.5 GHz band, which is apparently the single largest band of contiguous spectrum below 3 GHz.The band had been set aside for educational TV use and the FCC move removes any restrictions on who can use it and how.It had previously been made available for free but now the government gets to cash in on yet another auction. At long last, we remove the burdensome restrictions on this band, allowing incumbents greater flexibility in their use of the spectrum, and introduce a spectrum auction that will ensure that this public resource is finally devoted to its highest-valued use,” said FCC Chairman Ajit Pai.“These groundbreaking reforms will result in more efficient and effective use of these airwaves and represent the latest step in advancing U.S. leadership in 5G.”

The original Vive and Rift headsets will almost surely be remembered as the turning point for consumer VR technology – and they’re still pretty good options a few years later.HTC‘s Vive Focus Plus fits this bill for a standalone, but it’s prohibitively expensive for casual consumers at $799.I also dig how easy it is to check my work with the Oculus Go when I’m shooting video with a VR camera, so it’s a must-have for anyone considering getting into VR content-creation.And it has built-in speakers which emit sound right next to your ears so you don’t have to fumble with headphone wires and earbuds.Basically if you want to play games like Skyrim VR, LA Noire: The VR Case Files, and Borderlands 2 VR, you’re going to need a PC or console to power your experience.Facebook-owned Oculus recently launched an updated version of the Rift headset and slapped on S on it.

Spotify Lite for Android is now official, launching today across 36 countries. The lightweight version of Spotify's main app weighs in at only 10MB, and is designed primarily for users with smartphones running Android 4.3 and higher. The app has been in testing for a while now, and its launch marks an important move for Spotify.Other lightweight versions of regular apps - such as Facebook - are primarily designed to run on older, slower handsets, which don't always have the muscle to run the full version, either due to older specifications or outdated software.Spotify Lite still works like the regular app, and allows both free and premium users to search for and stream music, but with a few features that are essential to the Lite app.For one, users will be able to control the amount of data the app uses, so those on smaller data plans don't run out.

- Eggshells can enhance the growth of new, strong bones needed in medical procedures, a team of UMass Lowell researchers has discovered. The technique developed by UMass Lowell could one day be applied to repair bones in patients with injuries due to aging, accidents, cancer and other diseases or in military combat, according to Assistant Prof. Gulden Camci-Unal, who is leading the study.Through the innovative process, crushed eggshells are inserted into a hydrogel mixture that forms a miniature frame to grow bone in the laboratory to be used for bone grafts. The research demonstrates that when eggshell particles - which are primarily made of calcium carbonate - are incorporated into the hydrogel mixture, they increase bone cells' ability to grow and harden, which could potentially result in faster healing. The process could also be used to help grow cartilage, teeth and tendons, she said.We have already filed a patent for it and are very excited about our results.

Samsung expects a steep plunge in its second-quarter operating profit amid uncertainty in the global smartphone and chip markets and ongoing tensions related to the US-China trade war.The South Korean electronics giant said Thursday it expects to record an operating profit for the three-month period ended June 30 of 6.5 trillion won ($5.6 billion), a 56% decline from the year-ago period. The earnings guidance, released Thursday ahead of full earnings later this month, didn't provide specific divisional results.Samsung appears to be suffering the fallout from President Donald Trump's escalating trade war with China.Beijing said in May it would impose a 25% tariff on US goods in retaliation for Trump's plan to increase tariffs on goods imported from China.A study, released in June by the Consumer Technology Association, highlighted how the prices of phones, laptops, tablets, video game consoles and toy drones from China would rise significantly as a result of the potential tariffs.

A little over a year ago, I decided to stop spending so much money buying iced mochas at coffee shops and learn to make my own espresso-based drinks. It was around then that I reviewed Intact Idea’s Flair Espresso Maker, a sleek and portable brewing device that relied on level mechanics and a bit of arm strength to brew a cafe-quality shot of coffee – no electricity required.Despite a few caveats, it proved to me that I could pull an espresso at home to rival my favorite Brooklyn coffee spots without spending a fortune.I’ve probably saved hundreds of dollars in the months since. At $300, it’s a significant premium over the original Flair’s $160 street price, but if you’re serious about espresso, it’s well worth the additional expense. While that’s happening, grind your coffee with a good burr grinder, place it in the portafilter (the container where the pressure magic happens), and use the included tamper to compact the grounds.

Although the creators of DeepNude have torn down their slimy software that removes clothes from women in photos, the code continues to spread all over the internet. The original version of DeepNude – a machine-learning app that replaced women’s clothing in photos with an approximation of what they would look like underneath, thus creating fake naked images of them – was seemingly abandoned last week after its developers, based in Estonia, realized, with the help of some online outrage, that their misogynistic creation could be misused. They took down their website, halted any further downloads and activations, and asked people to forget the whole affair, all within a few days of launching the thing.“Downloading the software from other sources or sharing it by any other means would be against the terms of our website. Some in the AI world sighed with relief that the photo menace had gone almost as soon as it had arrived. As a person and as a father, I thought this was one of the most disgusting applications of AI.

After years of struggling to escape the clutches of development hell, a live-action adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s Sandman looks like it’s finally becoming a reality, thanks to a surprising (though not all that unexpected) partnership between Netflix and Warner Bros. The Hollywood Reporter writes that Netflix has greenlit a live-action Sandman series based on the critically-acclaimed Vertigo comic that follows the travels of Morpheus (or Dream of the Endless), an anthropomorphic being who manipulates dreams and reality.Wonder Woman screenwriter Allan Heinberg is attached to showrun with Gaiman and David S. Goyer acting as executive producers.According to THR, multiple studios (including HBO) were presented with the chance to claim Sandman, which is said to be a particularly expensive production, before Netflix emerged as the frontrunner.THR writes, “Sources familiar with the pact note it is the most expensive TV series that DC Entertainment has ever done.”While there’s no news about casting or which aspects of the Sandman mythos the series might get into just yet, the deal itself says interesting things about the show because of the parties involved.

While much of the attention in the world of automation technology has been focused on self-driving cars, many other markets traditionally dominated by human-in-the-loop solutions are reaching a point of inflection, enabling RaaS solutions to take over.Giant companies with ominous, global, megacorp-sounding names like FANUC and ABB provide solutions that require hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of investment dollars just to get started.Companies buy massive robots and software solutions that are customized — at great cost — to their specific needs. The massive conglomerates that sell these robots have dominated the field for decades, but that is about to change. At the same time, cheap and powerful computing and cloud infrastructure are now also readily available and easy to spin up.A market has hit its automation tipping point (ATP) when an RaaS solution is introduced with a unit cost that is less than or equal to the unit cost for humans-in-the-loop to conduct the same task.

I mainly asked questions and I got some great answers in my email. The big question is whether Niantic can strike gold twice; here’s an Extra Crunch interview my colleague Greg did with the startup’s CEO.Twitter turned comments into the main 140 character dish, but Twitter’s influence is getting baked into a ton of platforms.Sites like Instagram are starting to gain a greater understanding of how users want responses to complement their content and the opportunities they’ve seized on really showcase the user-submitted opportunities being wasted by platforms like YouTube and Twitch.YouTube downgrading their comment visibility kind of highlights what a cesspool the company has allowed them to turn into, but rather than being a place where people are vile, the platform just hasn’t grown them into something useful or exciting over the past decade. As Instagram continues to become a place where more and more famous users interact with each other, the comment fields are becoming the place where users “bond” with the accounts they follow even if they’re still lurking around and reading how the account responds to other high-profile users.

The stylus is one of the understated input devices of modern times.Ridiculed by the late Steve Jobs, it has now become the star of Apple’s new iPad Pro vision.Still, there only so many things you could cram inside a small stick.Wacom put buttons, Apple places a touch sensor, and Samsung added a Bluetooth transmitter.Microsoft’s latest patent, however, definitely takes the cake by envisioning how its future Surface Pen could have not just buttons or radios but a while touch screen panel on its side.Granted, we’ve actually seen far worse ideas and, at least on paper, Microsoft’s patent almost makes sense.

The lock on your iPhone stops you accidentally activating or changing anything, and if your Apple Watch isn’t passcode-protected then unlocking it is just a matter of tapping the screen or raising your wrist. That’s because passcode protection is a security feature, and you don’t want anyone else to override it.But you don’t have to enter your passcode every time you want to tell the time. Why should you lock your Apple Watch with a passcode? The short answer is Apple Pay: you don’t want anybody with access to your Watch to be able to spend money without your permission. That’s why Apple asks you to choose a passcode when you first set up your new Watch; no passcode, no Apple Pay.
