New Phone featuresThe developer tools for iOS 10, due later this year, will include CallKit, a framework that lets developers of VoIP voice over Internet Protocol applications make it easier for iPhone and iPad users to take calls sent from communication apps.Users will be able to consult the virtual assistant to help with a variety of queries, including searching for images.First and foremost, people with iOS devices and Macs will have access to a unified clipboard, so that text and images copied on an iPhone can then be pasted on a nearby Mac.Its biggest improvement allows users to pick their favorite apps, which will be kept in memory and updated in the background. Those apps should then open drastically faster than apps under watchOS 2.They can walk through a guided tour of a development course to learn basic programming concepts.
CarPlay on ultrawide screensApple's CarPlay interface - bringing your iPhone to the dashboard of your car, with a pared-back, driving-friendly UX - is getting smarter Siri in iOS 10, but so far, though, we've not seen a great deal of flexibility in how CarPlay looks.Considering how many cars - from automakers like Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Lexus, and more - are adding such wide-aspect panels to their high-end dashboards, that should mean a far more aesthetically-pleasing - not to mention flexible - way to use CarPlay moving forward.Avoid tolls in Apple MapsApple Maps has come a long way since its much-maligned first generation release, and as well as a fresh new interface in iOS 10, integration with Yelp, Uber, and other third-party services, and a new navigation system, there are some features which promise to save you money.Considering some states make heavy use of highway charges - which can add up over the course of a year's commuting, as well as sometimes requiring annoying exact change - this might well be one of those iOS 10 features which end up impacting a lot more people than you might expect it to.Usually, when you take a photo on the iPhone, it spits it out as a JPEG, but third-party apps will get access to the raw camera images and be, presumably, able to manipulate them for a greater range of tweaks and adjustments.Considering the iPhone has become one of the most popular cameras - used for recording feature films, no less - that could make a big difference for prosumers and professionals alike.
Knowing the diverse composition of our nearly 150 active committee members, we expected diversity in responses, but one resounding similarity shone through which was that B2B marketers have moved well beyond the click as a leading metric of success and are moving toward a more holistic view of digital campaign effectiveness. As you ll see in the responses below, regardless of where the B2B leader sits in the B2B ecosystem, when it comes to KPIs, there is much for a B2B company to consider to evaluate the effectiveness of their campaigns including, but not limited to:Brand PerceptionLead to Conversion RateBusiness KPIs a la Corporate Culture Lead QualityClick Through RateLead VolumeConversion RatesReturn on Ad SpendCost per ActionRevenue Closed DealsCost per ClickRevenue GeneratedCross-sellsTime SpentCost per LeadUpsellsEngagement RateVideo Completion RateInteraction RateViewabilityThe below responses provide some good nuggets of wisdom and food for thought on the various considerations of companies as they consider their most important KPIs for themselves or the clients that they represent.KPI s managed correctly within ABM result in major increases in revenue for B2B Marketers, and given B2B s longer sale cycle, we need to incorporate leading indicators of success with lagging revenue metrics. In AdTech, and more specifically with CMPs, the KPIs are often bucketed by display and video; however those KPIs are starting to blur as viewability and engagement become increasingly crucial, and marketers realize that branding and performance can be achieved in the same campaign. The most commonly requested/prioritized KPIs are: Engagement Rate, Interaction Rate, Time Spent, Video Completion Rate, and CTR.Andrew Goldman, Global Lead, Agency Holding Companies, Global Sales Organization, LinkedIn and IAB B2B Committee Co-Chair From Mansueto Ventures perspective, we believe that today s most used KPI is inconsistent with how the end result supposed to look.
A new study out today in Science details the protocol followed by a team of researchers at the University of Southampton to turn carbon emissions into rocks. The team took carbon emissions from the atmosphere, dissolved them in water, and sealed them in an underground well in Iceland with basalt rocks.Over the course of two years, the carbon solution reacted with the basalt, eventually crystallizing into these carbon storage rocks. The high-percentage of basalt in the rock at some places up to 90 percent was key to the technique.Professor Zhiyong Jason Ren, who directs the University of Colorado s Bioenergy and Bioresource Recovery Lab and was not involved in the research, stressed how important it would be to choose the right kind of site for the method. The next step for the research team is an attempt to test a larger-scale carbon rock formation in a carbon capture program at a geothermal plant in Reykjavik, which stores 5,000 tons of carbon a year.

Android: A few years ago, we featured a handy little Facebook client called Fast.Earlier this month, Fast got a big update with a new design. If you re sick of the regular client, this one s worth another look. The new design features an embedded mobile site, so you can get the best of both battery-friendly worlds.Unfortunately, Facebook has been pushing people towards the Messenger app more and more, but for now at least, Fast can let you message people without having to install a separate app.Fast Google Play Store

The brazen theft is a painful lesson showing that the bad guys never sleep, and what was once good enough in terms of digital security is no longer so.To perpetrate this brazen, film noir-worthy heist, digital thieves snuck into what was thought to be the most secure financial messaging system in the world, known as SWIFT, a Belgian co-operative owned by member banks and used by 11,000 financial institutions globally. The attack on the SWIFT banking network did not showcase a new type of computer attack, but it did reveal a shrewd scheme combining several existing attack methods in a devious, sophisticated, and unique way.SWIFT said the thieves stole legitimate operator credentials allowing them to send seemingly authentic messages that were used to conduct fraudulent transfers.Protecting SWIFT and its members, or any similarly interconnected eco-system, today requires a collaborative, multi-faceted approach that must be managed like a serious business challenge, not simply a technological issue. The bank thieves also took advantage of a weak link in the security chain-a lowly PDF reader used to generate reports of payment confirmations.
The company averages about 11 million rides a day, and has 300 million users across 400 Chinese cities. So far, both Didi and Apple have kept mum about how exactly that money would be used, but the company did tell Tech Insider several ways it plans to grow its business in the near-term.The app lets you hail a private car or taxi, just like Uber. Also similar to UberPOOL, Didi has a service called Hitch that lets you carpool with others to cut down on costs. But Didi also lets you book a chauffeur for an extended period of time, test drive a car from a local car dealer, and find and purchase tickets for a Didi shuttle bus. That poses problems for apps like Didi, which want to give accurate pick-up estimates, especially in situations like Hitch where a driver is picking up multiple people from different locations.Having an underlying algorithm that can make it easier for drivers to pick up riders in a timely fashion is important in China.More from Tech Insider:This summer's hottest pool accessory is a giant inflatable swan floatThere s an HDTV antenna that s literally made from dead cable boxesWatch this crazy time-lapse of Dutch builders putting a tunnel under a highway in 48 hours20 amazing things you can do with Pebble's new $70 deviceA new app called Recharge lets you rent hotel rooms by the minute for extremely short staysNOW WATCH: We tried the 'Uber-killer' that just landed a $300 million investment from VolkswagenLoading video...
Messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram...what are they used for?Facebook offers a range of different mobile apps which fulfil slightly different functions. For users familiar with the web version of Facebook and looking to import the same experience onto their smartphone, the main Facebook app for iOS and Android provides largely the same experience. It allows group chats and video calls.WhatsApp has less added extras, while Messenger offers the ability to share gifs or videos directly from other sites.Instagram is another app owned by Facebook which, as of September 2015, had 400 million monthly active users.

Chrome: If you re the type who enjoys a little motivational push through the day in the form of an inspiring quote, New Tab Motivation for Chrome delivers, with a random quote each time you open a new tab.The extension itself is pretty simple.Every time you open a tab, you get a new quote by someone like the Dalai Lama, Lao Tzu, Dale Carnegie, Tony Robbins, and more—obviously some quotes more interesting and thoughtful than others. You ll probably have to plug through some eyeroll-worthy ones to find something that ll help you get motivated to push through the low points of the workday, but since you get a new quote with each tab, it s as simple as closing and opening another, or ignoring it until you have a reason to open a new one.If you re interested, it s free and you can check it out at the link below.
Microsoft and its Mojang subsidiary said Tuesday that they will begin blocking corporations and politicians from using Minecraft to promote their own agendas, including the sale of products, movies, or political views. We want to empower our community to make money from their creativity, but we re not happy when the selling of an unrelated product becomes the purpose of a Minecraft mod or server, Mojang wrote in a blog post.As long as this doesn t explicitly promote a King Kong sequel, you re good. Many of those users are also watching Minecraft-themed videos on YouTube, which can also serve as vehicles to promote products. The new rules apply mainly toward players developing mods or shared servers, where they can control what content players see. However, there s one enormous loophole: Fans of a show or a product are still free to build things in Minecraft that represent or celebrate it so long as the goal or focus is not to promote or sell that stuff, Mojang wrote.
So aptly, ASUS has unveiled, in addition to its more professional and suave ZenBook products, a whole host of ROG, short for Republic of Gaming, desktops, laptops, and components that promise to give gamers the ultimate, no holds barred gaming experience that money can buy, including what ASUS claims is the world's most compact gaming desktop, the ROG G31 Edition 10.ASUS is also bringin out the GX800, which it naturally dubs as the most powerful gaming laptop.Of course, those aren't the only gaming computers for show at Computex. The Rampage V's design is based around the new X99 chipset for Intel Core i7 Skylake generation chips, particularly the LGA 2011-v3 socket. As a gaming-oriented motherboard, the Rampage V features ASUS-exclusive tools to make overclockers' lives a little bit easier and safer.Other ROG accessories and products include the Swift PG248Q Full HD monitor that boasts of narrow bezels and built-in NVIDIA G-SYNC support, the Centurion headset that promises true 7.1-channel surround sound, the Claymore keyboard with its Cherry MX RGB mechanical keys, and, last but by no means least, the ROG XG Station 2 graphics doc, that can give your laptop the needed boost to support virtual reality headsets.
