Using 3D mechanical drawings may be just what the client needs to understand the design.

Have you ever tried to describe a beautiful scene that you observed only to feel that you failed miserably in conveying the emotion?

Failing to use the right medium of communication for the right client could result in the client going elsewhere for their needs.

In response to the question of whether physical model making still had a place, two New York architects being interviewed by designboom in 2014 stated the following:

“[S]ome clients can see a plan and section and understand a building, some prefer physical models and some need hyper photo realistic 3D renderings.

[W]e use every tool at our disposal rather than being limited to one over another.”
