Pepper Spray Will GET You KILLED

The most often asked question Secret Death Touches Review  I get at the start of my women's self-defense classes is, 'What do you think about pepper spray?" My answer is always the same, "It's fine if you've been properly trained. If you're not trained, it will get you killed."

"Properly trained?" they ask. "Why would we need to be properly trained to handle a small vial of pepper spray? It's so easy that any 4 year old could do this." And that's were the demonstration part of the lecture begins.I ask each of them to grab their purses and hand them a small pepper spray tester. We then go through the simulation of walking down the street with me being the attacker. No rules are applied. I let each of them decide where they place the pepper spray, in their purse, hand or pocket and decide when they would use it. In the 7 years I have done this simulation, only one woman was ever able to "tag me" with water in the eyes. And even with that one, I was still close enough to potentially inflict serious injury.

Now, before you go on that I was prepared and they weren't, that's the point! Criminals are prepared to deal with you. They have a game plan and know what they are going to do and how they are going to react. You, most likely, have none except for a $7 canister of pepper spray in your purse that you probably haven't touched since you bought it. Did you know that they have expiration dates?

The reality of a violent situation is that you will have split seconds to respond, especially if your awareness training hasn't kicked in. Most individuals, without any prior self-defense training, will be startled and unable to react quickly enough to save themselves, let alone pull out their pepper spray and use it effectively.
