Kathleen and Robert Ferdinando have developed Celtic Clothing from a small home-based business to the established store it is today. The couple have lived on the Isle of Lewis for nearly 30 years after Kathleen returned to her heritage, her mother being born and raised on Harris.

Celtic Clothing was formed in June 1998 in response to a request from the Bernera School of Highland Dancing to supply their pupils with outfits, primarily for the purpose of competition. Kathleen is a time-served tailor with over 40 years experience. Her kilt-making is of the highest standard and her customers have included Scottish landed gentry and the aristocracy. Kathleen is one of the few remaining kilt-makers capable of making the military style "box pleated" kilts that are popular with pipe bands. Kathleen learnt her trade at Campbell & Co who started business in 1858. They sell quality woollens and high class garments made in sporting tweeds and also highland dress. Campbell & Co have the Royal warrant as suppliers of tweed to the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.
