Higher Education Opportunities with NVQ Levels

NVQ Levels qualifications provide various opportunities for students who wish to join the professions in the industry. Sri Lanka delivers free education as a fundamental right for its citizens. When a student completes his or her ordinary Level qualification or A/L qualification, then they have the option to study further with the open universities available in Sri Lanka. In many cases, students who complete their ordinary level proceed to find jobs in the industry. The Tertiary and Vocational Education Commission (TVEC) in Sri Lanka introduced the NVQ levels in the country with 7 Levels. For example, the Vocational Training Authority (VTA) in Sri Lanka provides NVQ level qualifications for the building and construction sector. Students can study through the VTA and further study to achieve senior roles in the industry. If the student goes to the UK for higher education qualifications, then he or she can advance in the field of construction by learning with an online college based in UK which provides NVQ level qualifications recognised in UK Regulated Qualification Framework (RQF). If the candidate already possesses an NVQ level 5 qualification from the VTA, then he or she can progress with the College of Contract Management an accredited college and can complete the NVQ Level 6 Diploma in Construction Site Management. The Level 6 qualification is equivalent to a bachelor’s degree. The college provides the course through live online lectures and on-site programme. The online college offers an assessor to assess the competency during the learning process. The College of Contract Management is also accredited by other institutes such as CIOB, RICS, ICE, Pearson and Edexcel. The NVQ Level 6 qualification provides opportunities such as:

A direct pathway to becoming an AssocRICS of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, a chance to apply for the Chartered Institute of Building Professional Review and earn the MCIOB designation, eligibility to apply for the CSCS Black Card and the opportunity to study further and obtain a Level 7 qualification.
