What is a Blog

But what is a "blog" and what differs from a typical website? To understand how you can make money from a blog, you need an understanding of exactly what a blog is and how it works.

Let's see how the experts define the blog:

"A blog is a website whose contents are published at regular intervals and appear in opposite chronological order. The term blog is a shortcut to the term weblog or web log. Writing a blog, maintaining or adding an article to an existing blog is called 'blogging'. Individual articles in a blog are called "blog posts", "posts" or "entries". The person who publishes these articles is called a 'blogger'. A blog combines text, hyperlinks, images, and links on other websites and in videos, audio or other files. Blogs use a conversational documentation style. Often blogs focus on a specific topic. Some blogs report personal experiences." Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blog

In essence, a blog is something like a calendar that is available to anyone and presents its articles in chronological order, starting with the latest, which is at the top of the page.

Any article on a blog can accept comments but may not. Plus the blog is defined as a dialogue rather than a monologue, so the vast majority of bloggers accept comments in their articles.

The best way to understand how a blog works is to read some, dealing with an object that interests you and post your comments.

Post comments
Posting comments on a blog is done in the following way:

At some point on the page there is a link of the "comment" style or "add your comment" or something. Clicking on this link opens a form in which you enter your email, your name (if you like) and your comment or review or whatever you want to post in response to a post.

The blog is not what it seems to be
If you visit a blog, you won't see much happening on the front page. You'll see some articles, a few links, and some ads. The truth is, however, that below the surface there may be hundreds of articles for which thousands of comments have been published.

We have already mentioned that articles appear in chronological order. So only the latest posts appear on the first page. As time goes on and the blogger publishes new posts, older articles slowly move towards the end of the page, until they disappear and are transferred to a folder called "files" or "archives".

If you click on the link "files" or "archives", you will have access to all files published on this blog, which depending on the age of the blog and the activity of the blogger, can be hundreds.

Blogging is a profession
This is a profession that began to grow rapidly in 2004. Professional bloggers earn up to 30,000 euros a month by posting articles on their blog, building email lists, running ads and promoting affiliate programs. The amount seems to be excessive, and if you first encountered this information, you probably think I've made a mistake.

I haven't made a mistake. Surely 30,000 euros is an amount earned by blogs that attract a very large number of visitors and have a fanatical audience of regular readers, yet there are many examples from moderate dynamic blogs, reaching six digits a year.

More on the subject and on how blogs can reach such numbers in a moment. What you need to keep for now is that a blog can replace your normal profession with great success. In particular, I will show you how to achieve it in the next pages.

Anyone can do it
You might think that those who have a blog or website are computer experts and have studied something similar. Most bloggers have no idea about HTML and programming. Under no circumstances would the companies behind manufacturing websites and blogs restrict the market only to those who are experts in programming languages.

In simpler terms...

Whoever you are, whatever job you do, if you know how to write text in a text editor like Microsoft Word, you can have within half an hour your own website or blog.

If you are from Greece (like me) and reading this blog post, you will need a reliable hosting provider to host (φιλοξενησει) your blog. I suggest checking this list here for reliable hosting providers https://pavlosgiorkas.com/web-hosting-greece-filoxenia-istoselidon-best-companies/
