Reduce the Risk of Type 2 Diabetes With Leafy Green Vegetables

Researchers at the universityMarine D3 Reviewstudied the results of six previous studies which examined the relationship between vegetable consumption and Diabetes. The six studies were conducted on 220,000 adults in total.

Although the results for people eating a general range of vegetables showed no significant lowering of the risk of developing Diabetes, those that ate at least one and a half servings of leafy green vegetables together with the vegetables broccoli and cauliflower each day showed a 14 per cent reduced risk of developing Diabetes.

Leafy green vegetables can include varieties such as Collard Greens, Kale, Romaine Lettuce, Spinach, and Swiss Chard, these vegetables are good sources of a varied mix of vitamins and minerals that your body needs to stay healthy, these include vitamins A, C, and K, folate, iron and calcium.

It is still uncertain as to why the vegetables, in particular the leafy green vegetables were able to offer such a strong protection against the Diabetes risk.
