How to Enhance Your Privacy in the HouseParty App & Use it Privately?

These days, we are surrounded by a plethora of problems, be it diseases, starvation, economic downfall, etc. Moreover, socially transmitted diseases are forcing people to stay at home in order to save a life. This has made communication between people almost limited to phone calls. Gladly, thanks to the video chat apps, we can now talk to people face to face.

However, there is a lot of video calling apps for our digital devices, and these apps have different features, purposes, accessibilities, etc. Some video calling apps are for formal or official usage, and some programs are for casual meetings with your loved ones.

Currently, most nations are following social distancing and staying at their homes to prevent any potential health risks, and it has rocketed Houseparty’s popularity. HouseParty not only enables users to make video calls with up to 8 users simultaneously, but also it also allows you to enjoy games such as Trivia, Pictionary, and more during a call with the HouseParty app.

Bear in mind that this app requires all types of app permissions in order to work. This means you are handing all your device data to be explored and used by the developers of HouseParty. So, when a user installs the app and opens it for the first time, it asks you to allow all app permissions that include everything in your device, be it location, contacts, and other.

So HouseParty has sufficient hold on your device information that it can notify you when a user within your contacts comes to HouseParty.  Not only that, but it also notifies you whenever the users in your contact list log in to the app.

As the app has access to your locations, many users are likely to enable access to most app permissions while creating the account. However, if these regular alerts feel a bit irritating, then you can simply disable them and access the app more privately.

Here’s how to make HouseParty more private and turn off the frustrating continuous notifications:

Enabling Private Mode in HouseParty to Boost Privacy

  1. First and foremost, navigate and open the HouseParty app on your device.
  2. After that, press on the face emoji button situated in the upper-left corner.
  3. Head to the Settings button from the upper-left corner
  4. Now turn on the toggle switch to enable the private mode on the HouseParty app.

Once you do that, all your video chats will be highly secured and private. Even though if you are alone in HouseParty, you can choose who can call you and who can’t as well as you can select whom you wish to video chat with.

Also, bear in mind that once this option is enabled, none of your friends will be able to join themselves in your video call.

If someone tries to join your meeting without your permission, they will see a message that says, “The room is locked.”

Customizing Your Notifications in HouseParty

HouseParty allows you to manage whether you want to let others see when you are active on the app or not. You can easily do that by disabling the option saying, “send out my notifications.”

This will enhance your privacy in the app unless your friends are able to see when you are online and when not.

Moreover, you can also turn off the notifications on your app when someone comes online on the app. You can do this by turning off the “get my friends notification” toggle option for more privacy.

HouseParty is indeed one of the best casual video chatting apps available for smartphones. It is pretty different from other apps, and that’s is why people just love it.
