What you need to know when buying a printer

At work, I help many clients choose a new printer. So in this article I will cover some of the most frequently asked questions that I get. But ... Before you go out and find a new printer, here are some of the things to ask yourself ender 3 pro.

1. What are my printing needs? You really want to know what you will print before choosing a printer. Some printers are more efficient for certain types of printing than others. Some can be quite expensive to maintain if all you are going to do is print your assignment.

2. How many pages will I print per day, week, or month? Your print volume is important. For example, if your print volume is high, you might want to consider a laser printer for long-term cost savings.

3. Do I want to print photos or just documents? While photo-quality printers will print any document, it can be expensive to do so on some printers as black ink cartridges often tend to be priced differently, sometimes higher, sometimes lower than color.

4. Do I need to print in color or just black and white? Small black and white laser printers have come down a lot in price these days.

5. What kind of paper will I want to use? (Cardstock, photo paper, shipping labels, etc.) If you intend to print greeting cards on cardstock, you should go for a slightly higher-end printer. Cheap printers can't handle that thick paper.

6. Does the printer I am replacing use a USB cable or does it have a parallel (large plug)? Printers no longer come with the cables to connect them to the computer.

7. It is also helpful to know the age of the computer to which you will connect it. If you are still using Windows 95 you will be out of luck and it would be better to search for a used printer on eBay, Windows 98 is going to be difficult. If you're using XP, your USB ports may still be out of date and need to be updated, costing about $ 30 for a USB 2.0 card and $ 30 for an installation. (If you bought your computer in the last 3 years, you should be okay with this.) It can also be helpful to know how much memory your computer has and how fast its processor is. This can be found out by going to the control panel in your start menu and clicking on the system icon.

Once you know this information, you are ready to choose a printer. The first thing you will notice is that there are many differences between printers.
