5 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD CONSIDER BUYING GIA CERTIFIED DIAMONDS

You may often come across terms like GIA Certified or Certified by GIA when searching for diamonds, and you wonder what they mean. It is good or bad, does it matter, or should you care? Diamonds certified by GIA describe that the store doesn’t grade those but a GIA specialist. So is diamond certification a good thing? Yes. Should it matter to you? Absolutely. And below, we list five reasons why you must care.

WHAT IS GIA?

GIA, or the Gemological Institute of America, is an independent and respected diamond grading laboratory well known for its strict grading ethics. It identifies and classifies the stone based on 4C’s, i.e., Cut, Clarity, Color, Carat Weight, and other specifications. Many labs claim to grade like GIA but don’t let them mislead you since they don’t. GIA certifications offer the most certainty for your diamonds.

WHAT IS GIA CERTIFICATION?

GIA certification tells you about a diamond’s superiority via the most technically advanced systems and strictest grading measures. So when they mention SI1 on the certificate, the diamond will, hands down, have SI1 (Slightly Included to the 1st degree) clarity. You can get ripped off by hundreds or thousands of dollars simply because the stone isn’t GIA certified.

WHY CHOOSE GIA CERTIFIED DIAMONDS?

Let’s take a closer look at what having GIA certified diamonds mean:

Everyone respects GIA

All jewelers agree that GIA puts out the most trusted reports. Thus, the certification is said to be the best. So, for instance, if you choose a diamond engagement ring for your partner, you know what’s exactly on your finger. Besides, if you ever wish to pass it down to a family member or upgrade the investment, you own unchallenged proof of authenticity.

The founder of 4Cs

GIA established the now universally accepted diamond grading technique of 4C’s. They developed stringent guidelines for cut, color, clarity, and carat weight that jewelers use today to sell, buy or evaluate stones. So, trust the masters who developed and perfected the system.

It proves the stone is natural.

Gemological labs such as GIA have access to state-of-the-art techniques and equipment to distinguish natural vs. synthetic diamonds. Therefore, a certification will prove the stone you buy is natural, not lab-made.

Reassures quality

When you buy GIA-certified diamonds, you enjoy an unmatched sense of confidence, knowing your stone is of the highest quality. GIA diamond grading is redundant, meaning they triple-check, making it highly-recognized for its unbiased, trustworthy, and accurate techniques and reports. Thus a credible diamond certification is what will get you the best.

No replacement value

GIA graded stones never accompany a value on their reports. A monetary value determined by any grading company can never guarantee accuracy. The prices are susceptible to change. Thus, sealing the replacement value in cement is more fiction than facts.

Diamond certificates cannot magically change the essence of the diamond. On the other hand, diamonds without a certificate don’t mean fake. However, not having a certificate means you do not have an unbiased authentication certification, which can hurt you in the long run.
