Masterbatch for the BOPP Film Industry

When it comes to the BOPP films, they have a unique combination of properties such as high clarity, accuracy, stiffness, transparency, fast heat-sealability, and barrier protection.

The BOPP masterbatch method enables the production of highly transparent, white, or pearlescent films. They are also an excellent substrate for printing, lamination, and other transforming processes. They are used in a variety of applications including:

  • Transparent, white, and pearlescent heat-sealable
  • Coatings for packaging food
  • Non-food products
  • Metallised and high-barrier films
  • Labels, Trademarks, and synthetic paper
  • Printing and lamination films for plastic
  • Substrates, paper, and cardboard
  • Adhesive tapes
  • Tobacco packaging films
  • Cable wrap and insulation
  • Capacitor films

Reducing migration allows higher productivity, superior printing, and more

A masterbatch for processing BOPP film (bi-axially oriented polypropylene) delivers stable, long-term slip performance without the hindrances of standard slip agents such as organic waxes and silicone oil.

Controlling the coefficient of friction (COF)

The coefficient of friction is a reoccurring problem in BOPP film packaging manufacturing because it can negatively influence the film’s appearance, create deformations and even break, which interrupts throughput. Some traditional slip agents cannot guarantee a constant COF.

The standard coefficient of friction reduction agents continuously migrates to the film surface. Migration is a big problem that can:

  • Improve the haze level of clear film
  • Negatively influence downstream printing, lamination, and metallization

To solve these problems and related concerns, we have developed a patent-pending, high clarity, silicone-based masterbatch for BOPP films used mainly in food packaging, bags, wrappers, packages, pouches, and much more.

Advantages of Bopp Masterbatch

  • Rapidly reduces the COF for BOPP films
  • Blocks transfer to the corona-treated face to protect printability, lamination, and metallization capability
  • Remains constant over time and temperature for constant slip performance
