Top Red Flags To Watch Out For In Yoga Teacher Training

If you want to join an Avalon yoga school for your yoga teacher training classes then it is important to ensure you get value for your money. A yoga teacher training school should be a beautiful place to explore and grow deeper realms of your yoga practice, life and personality. It should be a safe place that you can look back on with a smile. Unfortunately, new trends are always coming up in yoga teacher classes and a good school should not be rigid in their training methods. It is therefore important to be very careful when choosing your yoga teacher training school. You should research the lead teacher and interact and practice with them as much as possible before signing up. You should ensure they are the type of a person you want to learn from and share with. Watch out for the following red flags when choosing the right yoga teacher training programs.

Unregistered trainers and schools

You should run the name of the lead trainer and the school through the yoga alliance registry and ensure they are on the site. However, do not just stop there. If you find them on-site, you should keep researching. Legit schools are updated and published on yoga alliance regularly but so are shambolic teachers and schools.

Communication

If you call or write to a school or lead teacher and get no response or unhelpful response then you should drop that yoga school. Communication is crucial in this training.

The trainers acting hypocritically

You should check out if the lead teacher is practising what they preach. If they suggest ideas or intentions in class and post stuff to social media about things that contradict that then that should be a red flag. If you hear them chanting after class about ways of life or ideas that are opposite of what they recommended in class then you should drop them. The trainers are supposed to be leaders who share something that cultivates transformation and spiritual growth. Good trainers should lead by example and not tell you one thing and do the other. You should listen to their words and watch their actions to ensure they match up. If they do not match then it is likely that they are not someone who can guide you and help you grow.

Unable to take criticism

This can be hard but you should try testing your lead teacher by approaching him/her after class or via email. Suggest a playlist or an edit to their class. You should ensure you are nice since you are still a yogi. Remember that you aren’t trying to trick them but you just want to seek a deeper understanding of the person you may ask to be your teacher soon. Watch out how they respond to your comment or suggestion. If they get angry or defensive then you need to know that the Avalon yoga school has the wrong teachers. If they discuss it with you and ask more questions then know that this is someone worth learning from.
