When Dreams Come True : Shivaleeka Oberoi

Shivaleeka Oberoi never met him, as he gave up the ghost before she was even born, but the gorgeous girl who found herself within the spotlight together with her debut film Yeh Saali Aashiqui, believes the eagerness for films traveled in her bloodline. If I used to be not an actor, I might still be performing in films. It’s that happy high on a movie set that keeps me up and about. I looked nothing like an actress, but I remember, I wont to act ahead of my relatives and friends for fun. But at heart, I assume before I knew, my heart knew that it skipped a beat when it came to acting,” says the newcomer who started her journey with an acting course and auditioning for roles.

Shivaleeka discovers herself within the flashlight once more, together with her next movie Khuda Hafiz which was freshly released on Disney+ Hotstar. Once I see both my films, to me it's like my dreams playing on screen,” she says with a smile. Excerpts from a conversation:

Shivaleeka Oberoi, Are you cheerful with the type of response Khuda Haafiz has received?

This is my second film. The expectation was to possess a grand theatre release but the heat and reception Khud a Haafiz has gotten on OTT is overwhelming. There's a grace in front of everything that occurs. Khuda Haafiz approaching OTT too may be a blessing! This has made sure that the film reaches anyone and everybody. The response from the fraternity and therefore the audiences are amazing. I’m quite overwhelmed by all the love that has come my way after the discharge of the film.

Shivaleeka, Did your experience as an assistant director assist you once you were ahead of the camera?

Working as a billboard for Housefull 3 had given me enough experience of being ahead of the camera, so after I used to be through with it, I took time to groom myself and began giving auditions. I did a couple of advertisements here, within the south, and also did a couple of south films.

Shivaleeka, Tell us about your first opportunity as an actor with Yeh Saali Aashiqui. How did that occur?

I gave about 100 tests before preparing my debut movie. For this role, I gave about three auditions and 7 look tests. The character was nowhere on the brink of what I'm in the real world, so I had to completely change to urge into the character. I didn’t check out it as a negative or positive character. I took it as a chance to showcase my versatility as an actor and after the discharge, the critics appreciated that I chose such a difficult character to debut with.

An actor whose career choices are an idea for you?

I have been following everyone’s work and everybody has done something that I wish I might do at some point. But to call someone who inspires me, it's the amazing Priyanka Chopra. She’s had a journey that inspires also as makes every Indian proud. She’s given versatility in every position that she selected. Barfi, Bajirao Mastani, Mary Kom, Fashion… the list is infinite! She’s had a rough beginning and she’s done some remarkable work here and abroad. She’s grown from strength to strength. I would like to carve out my career path in a similar way… where I do roles that connect with people so well that they feel you're one among them! I like Priyanka’s choices. I’m a lover.
