XRVision, a facial recognition and video analytics Singapore-based company, received an undisclosed sum in funding from Luxembourg’s Boundary Holding.

The technological startup aims to make a mark in the security sector of the artificial intelligence (AI) industry.

This is one of the major investment stories after Nodeflux bagged funding from venture capital firm East Ventures earlier this year.

Similar to the startup, this firm deals video-processed information with the help of deep learning.Founded by Guy Ron and Yaacov Apelbaum (who has been the head of groups at Microsoft, Intel, and Avaya) in 2015, XRVision aims to solve prolonged security issues with the integration of IoT and AI.

The primary objective of the company includes facial recognition in a crowded environment.

A European privacy watchdog is scrutinizing Amazon over its handling of personal data collected through Alexa voice recordings, according to Reuters.

The Luxembourg-based regulator asked the US tech giant to provide information about Alexa, although did not specify why.

Alexa is embedded in a whole variety of products, including phones, speakers and even clocks, to allow you to control almost your whole smart home with your voice.

But concerns have been raised about voice assistants from tech companies including Amazon, Apple and Google being triggered accidentally and listening into and recording private conversations.

Recent revelations have also shown that these companies rely on human workers to manually review recorded snippets for quality control or to help develop new features.

These practices have raised major privacy concerns for consumers, and could also risk the companies falling foul of privacy laws.

August 31, 2019: DSV Panalpina transported its first Charter Network shipment for a aerospace manufacturer since the takeover.

The US Aerospace team of DSV flew aircraft engine parts on the 'Spirit of Panalpina' from Huntsville to Luxembourg on August 29.

The shipment made its onward via truck to Airbus’ production plant in Toulouse, France.

The engine parts, called thrust reversers, are produced by an aerospace manufacturer customer of DSV.

They go into aircraft engines and the engines are mounted onto Airbus A320neo aircraft.

Today (August 31), DSV Panalpina will handle another shipment - an engine overhauled in Hannover, Germany, that will be trucked to Luxembourg and flown the opposite direction across the Atlantic to Mexico via Huntsville.
