Crafting the Chest

A chest is a low-cost recipe since it only includes basic materials. By cutting trees with an ax, you will find wood. Cutting down any tree near your spawn can provide you with an abundance of wood to work with.

Depending on what has been produced in your world, iron, and lead can be used interchangeably. Find any iron or lead ore by digging underground. To make iron/lead bars, you’ll need to build a furnace. After this, you must stand at a workbench and craft the chest itself.

In Terraria, you’ll need the following items to build a chest:

  • Eight wood
  • Two iron/lead bars
  • a workbench

Start by looking for a natural cave or digging until iron ore is found. This mineral can be found near the surface and does not need to go very far.

Eventually, You can now make a chest with your two iron/lead bars and eight wood! Look for the chest icon next to your workbench.

You can position chests near your crafting stations to use whatever is in your chest for crafting. Chests need 2×2 tiles to build, and they can be placed on wooden platforms for easy access.

A chest can hold forty distinct blocks or objects. When you open a chest, you can see a list of different chest instructions to the right of the chest inventory.

“Loot All” will attempt to transfer every object in that chest to your inventory.

“Deposit All” will attempt to shift any item in your inventory (except your Hotbar) to that chest.

“Quick Stack” will move every item in your inventory to an already existing stack of that item in your chest. A short stack can also transfer non-stacking weapons and objects into the chest if a slot is open.

“Sort Items” will sort the chest by the section id.

“Restock” is going to do the opposite of a quick stack. If you hold any things in your pot, it will transfer items from your chest to your inventory.

You may rename your chest by selecting “Rename.” When you rename your chest, the name will appear when you hover your cursor over it.

When you open your inventory, you will note an icon that says “Quick Stack to Nearby Chests” at the bottom right of the inventory; this will quick-stack any item in your inventory to existing chests nearby. Having a row of chests full of various items will help you save time when it comes time to depot your items.

To prevent an object from being quickly stacked into a chest, hold alt and click on the item in your inventory. It will “favorite” the item and disregard it while quick-stacking or depositing. You can favorite as many things as you want. A border will surround a favorite object. By alt-clicking the object again, you can un-favorite it.
