Follow De Quervain's Tenosynovitis Taping Technique for Better Result

De Quervain's Tenosynovitis is a medical condition that causes inflammation in the tissue that covers two layers of muscles going to the thumb side of the wrist. This is usually caused by the overuse of muscles in the thumb.

De Quervain's Tenosynovitis taping helps to reduce the swelling. With good rest, you can get rid of this condition entirely within few weeks. However, if you fail to address the pain, it will affect you until you do something about it.

Follow these correct taping techniques that allow the wearer to continue the functional movement of the hand and wrist.

Step 1: Put the tape around the forearm at about the mid. This circular taping forms an anchor point for the rest of the tape.

Step 2: Cut a strip of 2.5cm long enough to stretch from the anchor point to the base of your fingers and another 2 - 3 cm to spare. Cut notches at one end of the tape.

Step 3: Stick the notch between the ring finger and middle finger, and fold the extra tape over the finger web so that it sticks down on the palm.

Step 4: Take the long end of the tape down and stick it to the original anchor point.

Step 5: Make two more notched straps. Run one from the anchor point to the index and middle fingers and the other between the little and ringer fingers. Again, fold the extra ends over onto the palm.

Step 6: Now, take another strap from the anchor point and start on the forearm's thumb side. Run this tape up and across the forearm to meet the edge of the hand just at the base of the little finger.

Step 7: Use the 5cm strap to create two anchors to lock the strapping in place.

Don’t wait and hope the pain will go away because it won’t until you follow De Quervain's Tenosynovitis taping technique for better results.
