Steps to Install a Network Printer Manually in Windows

  • First, tap on the Start button and then go to Settings.
  • Now, you need to go to Devices.
  • Press on Printers and Scanners.
  • You need to tap on Add a printer or scanner button.
  • If your windows system isn’t able to find your printer, then tap on the Printer that I want that isn’t listed.
  • Now, tap on Add a network printer or local printer with manual settings, and hit Next.
  • Tap on Create a new port and choose Standard TCP/IP Port.
  • Tap on the Next button.
  • You need to enter the IP address of your printer and click Next. You can see the IP address of the printer in your system.
  • Your system will show Detecting TCP/IP port and give your system some time to find it.
  • Now, choose your printer type in Standard, and select next.
  • Your system will show Detecting the driver model, let it find that, and you need to have some patience until you find that.
  • You can see your printer name on the system, and you need to choose the manufacturer from the left-side list and printer from your right side, and click on Next, and your system will install it.
  • If you can’t see your printer in the list for some reason, you need to tap on Windows update to find drivers, or you can press Have Disk and search for: System32/DriverStore/FileRepository and search the file c_printer.inf amd64.
  • Now, choose it and tap on open and install it.
  • If you can see your printer in the list, then press Next.
  • Tap on Use the driver that has been installed already and hit Next.
  • You need to type a printer name and hit on the Next button.
  • Choose share this printer or do not share this printer on the next screen and choose next and then click Finish.
  • Now, the network printer has been installed on your system, and it is ready to use.

Steps to Add a Printer using USB in Windows 10

  • Connect your printer and system both with a USB cable. Now, connect one end of your printers’ USB cord to the other USB outlet of your system.
  • Follow the installation steps. Your system will automatically detect your printer and follow the instructions to install the printer driver.
  • Check whether your printer has been successfully added or not. To do this, tap on the Start button that is shaped like the Windows logo that appears at the bottom-left corner of your screen.
  • Then go to Settings> Devices> Printers and Scanners. Alternatively, you can also do this using the Control Panel. You need to go to Hardware and Sound> Devices and Printers.
  • If you have set your printer correctly, you can see the printer in the printers’ list.  You can also print a page to confirm that the set-up is complete.

Note: Before setting up your network printer to a computer, make sure it is connected to the power source. You need to connect the internet to your system to download the important drivers for installing.
